What is this? Marsh barrel tuner

You slide it over your barrel and move it back and forth to "tune" the harmonics so factory ammo will shoot tighter groups. I reload so those things are of no interest to me. Some say they work well but I am skeptical at best. YMMV

I reload as well FROG0207, funny thing I've noticed, and have corroborated by other shooters, sometimes, slapping the Magnetospeed chrony on a barrel tightens the groups. Probably just dumb luck, or maybe knowing it's strapped on takes the mental tension out of shooting groups resulting in better groups. Anyway, the consensus is maybe the chrony changes barrel harmonics, and by luck, in a positive way.

Hmmmm never thought about using one for rimfire. I just tried as much different ammo as I could find and stuck with the one that shot best in each rimfire. This is the place that keeps one learning all the time.

IIRC, Browning used to have a system for center-fire rifles called the BOSS tuning system.. It was a screwed-on set-up as well and the reviews back then (late 80s-early 90s ??) seemed to like their ability to adjust a rifle for different bullet weights of the same caliber. Don't know if they are still around.

Tuners like ColtPythonElite posted have been around for quite a number of years in the rimfire benchrest crowd. A tuner won't make cheap ammo shoot great but will help make high end ammo shoot extremely tight groups. It does take a bit of testing to find the sweet spot for the tuner and the ammo being used.
