i have this pistol, acquired in a trade. i know its a j. stevens. serial 38829 in .22.
looking for any info and value. thanks. stevens22.gif

It's either a Stevens single-shot tipup target pistol, or one of the Stevens reproductions that Dixie Gun Works used to sell. From the shiny condition showing in the picture, I'd lean toward a reproduction, but if it's an original, it's a very nice one.

its definately an original. everything is stamped on the barrel. i just dont know if its worth much more than what i paid for it. it seats tight and the hammer still hits the pin hard. all the images on google for stevens model 35 look very close but lack the wood forearm, and the sights are different...

the shining is because i buffed what i could out of it. its definately been around and seen some use. might just be the reflection from the flash...

Unfortunately, you may have substantially reduced the value by buffing it. Collectors prefer a firearm in the unrestored state even if it isn't shiney.

i tried to get the sticky stuff off of it. i didnt really take a buffer to it, just some bore cleaner on a rag and then gun oil, which actually cleaned it really well. thanks for the input guys, hopefully someone will know a little more and help me out.
