I see these installed on a ton of peoples AR's. I have no idea what they do and am curious as to the purpose of using one. The item description on Magpul's website does not clear anything up.

A handle for the magazines, just like the original product that started magpul. IMO, it's pretty self-explanatory. Not trying to be condescending, just that the concept of design and use are about as uncomplicated as can be.

It is a magpul, or "magazine pull" it slips onto the base of the magazine, or replaces the baseplate, depending on the model. Its purpose is to make it easier for the user to remove the magazine from the pouch it is kept in. Designed for soldiers and competition shooters, it helps speed reload times.

As broken said.

I never bought any of them, a few in my company did. I usually just took some left over paracord and tied it around the end of the magazine and left a little of it dangling out of my vest, or belt pouches. Did the same thing and less cumbersome. That and I crushed and tossed a lot of magazines in the field. So many junkers .
