My house...wait, this isn't my house! What the...
Anybody else having problems with GunBroker.com? I have not been able to view it for the last few days. Is it me, is it them, or is there something I've missed? I'm not that computer savvy, but I've been getting an "HTTP 500 Internal Server Error/ Internet Explorer" message when I try to access the site. Did I do something wrong? Don't be afraid to tell me I'm just an idjit either! :D

Thanks, Steve :banghead:

Just got on no problem. Try typing it in instead of clicking? Now you`ve exhausted my knowledge of computers.

iis error 500

This basically means that they had a problem with whatever program generates the site...

I just got there.

Web sites that are front ends for data bases have an unfortunate habit of going kaflooey from time to time.

I've lately upgraded from Internet Exploder to Mozilla. It's by no means perfect, but less visually horrendous and unreliable.

For some reason your system might have gone whacky-- :cuss:
What you might try is restoring it back about a week, or at least a few days before you started having the problem with Gunbroker. To do that, do the following:

!.. Hit start
2..Hit all programs
3..Hit Accessories
4..Hit system tools
5..Hit system restore
A little calender will come up with the current date. Pick the date you want the system to go back to, then follow the prompts.
If you try this, hope it helps. I just had a power failure, and had to do it to straighten this thing out.

I give up.

Well I tried the System Restore idea as mentioned earlier to no avail. I'm confused, it's the only site I can't view. It's like GunBroker doesn't want me to browse its many items for purchase or something... hey! If this was some kind of intervention by my wife... Anyway, my trusty computer guru is coming over tomorrow. Maybe he'll help me.

Thanks for the replies!

Mods, feel free to close this thread, I don't want to waste any more THR space with my computer illiteracy! Thanks.

By any chance are you trying to browse from work, a library, or some other public computer or a computer on a network?

If so, it's possible it's being blocked.

I'm about to give up on it...
My computer guru friend could not figure it out either. He was pinging numeric IP addresses and all sorts of other insane stuff that actually involves using the OS (you know, that weird black screen that doesn't have any pictures, and that you actually have to type lines of letters and numbers and stuff... it's crazy, you don't even use the mouse!) and he says that everything appears fine from that end. He's actually stumped, and he works tech support for IBM!!!
I can't imagine that I would be blocked for any reason, I am on my home PC, so no firewalls. I have only ever made one purchase through GB, and it was a great experience so I should'nt be blocked for any reason. Even if I was, don't you think I'd get some explanation from someone?
I tried downloading the most recent version of Internet Explorer to see if that may have been the issue, but it's not. Weirder yet is that now I can access the main page of GB, but whenever I try to view ANY link on there, be it a category, specific item, or search function, I get the "This page cannot be viewed, HTTP 500 Error" message.
Honestly, I probably don't need to be shopping on there anyway, but it sure is fun to browse... I'm at my wit's end. Why could'nt it have been Old Navy.com or Yankee Candle.com or some other thing my wife shops? Jeez...

Thanks for the help.

The internet in general has been weird the last few days ... about half the time I can't get to foxnews.com and yesterday I kept trying to get onto bestbuy.com

however I called a friend of mine across town (who has a different ISP) and he could see the sites.

I got to GB.com,but.........

several of my favorites won't load in tonite, like the chat room for trapshooters.com and some others.Northern lights maybe??
Give it a day or two, whatever "it" is usually fixes "it"self somehow.

In that system restore, how far back did you go? When I had the power outage, and kept getting the-this page cannot be viewed- on another forum, I had to go back two weeks before it would straighten out.
Just another thought.

I went back to Jan. 3rd just for the heck of it.. no good.
I got lucky this evening and was able to view three whole pages on GB, and I only had to refresh them two or three times each to get them to load... I give up. I guess it's pretty bad when the dialog box says "MSN Help cannot solve your problem at this time." after checking a dozen or so little boxes, choose-your-own-adventure style trying to figure this out. I thought computers were supposed to make our lives easier! I still have to wash my own clothes and cook my own food... stupid "Carousel of Progress" ride at DisneyWorld... you'll notice that's obsolete now too, they replaced it... Won't be no "rise of the machines" if I can help it... great googly moogly.

:cuss: :banghead: :fire:

technology rant/off.

Best, Steve
