My brother is changing powder and bullet for White Tail. He would like to know what others are shooting for both accuracy, distance and killing power. He has been using 4831 and 4350 with a 160 gr Nosler Partition. Now he is thinking of dropping down to a 130 or 140 Hornady SP interlock with RL 19. He'll keep the old load for elk. Got any recommendations.

His elk load was my deer load as well. I had some good accuracy from Sierra's 140 and 150. Grain bullets also using those powders, but I never used RL powders

Here's my whitetail load

Hornady 139gr BTSP weighed
Win brass
CCI 250
IMR 4350 57gr (I know it's light but super accurate in my rifle)

This load stops them dead in their tracks. Dropped two good 8-points this year with this load. Here's 5-shots at 100yds.

My #1 choice is RL22 with a 140-145 gr. bullet that flies nice. Depending on the action I'm loading for, is what determines what powder charge I stop at. Beyond that, I've been forced to try other powders due to issues with availability. That said, H4831 & IMR-4350 have been serving quite well for me.

A very similar load to the one mentioned by gahunter12 in Post #5.

Sub-MOA accurate from a Remington 700 SPS with velocities averaging 3025 fps from a 26" barrel. Also works great with a 160 Grain Nosler Partition.

Just my .02,

For the 139/140gr weights most of the powders from IMR-4350 thru RL-22 in burn rate can give exceptional accuracy and good velocity as well.

I know your probably looking to narrow that down a bit more, but in today's environment you might not be able to simply walk in somewhere and find exactly what your looking for.

The only 7mm Rem mag I have is in a Rem Sendero, and it has mainly shot the 162gr Hornady SPBT since I got it. I worked the load up using RL-19 and left well enough alone. With the groups hovering around an inch out to 300yds I never felt a need for anything else.

That said since I also acquired another Sendero chambered in 7 STW, I have been thinking hard on dropping the load for the standard model back to the lighter bullets and using the heavier ones in the bigger case. Just haven't gone there yet.

Going with one of the powders in between the above mentioned burn rates though i do not see how you could go wrong, especially with the 139/140'ish weight bullets.
