Overcharging is not an accepted reloading practice. People who worry about overcharging should not be reloading. Reloading is all about paying attention to the details.
Point taken though, some powders get spiky when the pressure gets up there. One has to be more careful working up with a powder like that vs a slower more forgiving powder.
So don't go there. People who load to maximum pressure with fast powders are foolish. A little bullet setback upon feeding and KB! There goes their casehead.
We do have to use our own judgement on the way to max in a manual.
Loading over max can be dangerous. Some people like to do it despite that. Then again, every gun is different and sometimes experienced reloaders go over data by a bit and are not being careless, but those same reloaders sometimes stop short of max data.
Since you seem to be in the mood to nit pic, argue and be judgmental, you can carry on alone.
Another vote for AA #7, no way to double charge it by volume since it will just spill out. Ive loaded 400-500 in .40SW and have had zero problems using it on the lighter side for target loads. Currently Im loading 9.3gn behind a rainier 155gn TMJ round with CCI 300s. All have fed and been very good so far. In fact, Im headed to the shop in a minute to load another 100 or so.
