What is your favorite powder for reloading .45acp?

I've been using Win 231 for almost 20 years for lead bullets, mostly 185gr SWC and it's proven to be an accurate combination. Recently, I bought 4lb of VihtaVuori N340 on Walkalong's recommendation after asking him for advice on a cleaner burning powder. I shot the last USPSA match using 6.1gr of N340 and a 200gr LRNFP bullet from MCB and it proved to be very accurate and a lot cleaner with significantly less smoke. I like it .... a lot!!

Ramshot Silhouette (been using this for a few months and love it. Accurate, Clean, Meters Great, Very Low SD's)

I am using Silhouette with 185 gr. Remington Golden Sabers for performance better than factory. For factory duplication and cast lead 200 gr. RNFPs I use W-231. I have worked up +P loads with the 185 gr. GS using Ramshot True Blue and had good results. For my SD rounds I plan to use a lot of Silhouette as it is treated for flash and will go up to +P velocity without +P pressure.;)

Been a one load per gun guy for years and the .45ACP gets 200 gr LSWC with 5.6 grains of W-231 with a recent switch to HP-38 because it's a couple bucks cheaper per pound. When I was shooting USPSA that was the most consistent major power factor load and it seemed like all the 45 shooters used it at the time. I have a dedicated powder slide for the Dillon that never gets reset from that load. I thought it was notable that the load is listed right on the HP-38 label. Granted I haven't shot them all, but every 45 I've stuffed those rounds into have found it agreeable.

You and me both. I truly don't understand all the unique praise.
I bet biggest reason is because a lot of people start there and don't find a reason to change.

The reasons I like Unique over HP38, specifically:
Recoil: more of a shove vs a pop in 45. This is the most important reason to me.
Velocity: more of it.
Smoke: lower smoke, esp with cast bullets, IME
Cost: more expensive than HP38 per round, but still fairly cheap for a medium rate powder.
It's super clean in all my autoloaders. The only downside is the metering thing, which doesn't affect me as much, because I don't use a meter. I will probably find a better powder, someday. But it certainly isn't broke, so I'm not in a hurry to fix it.

I love the way HP38 scoops. I don't love the way it shoots. But after reading this thread, I may give it another try when I buy some lighter bullets. All I've been shooting so far are 230 grainers.

That could be. I tried it after trying 700x and AA#2. I found it burnt dirtier than both and didnt meter as well as AA#2.

It seems like a lot of people praise it for the ability to load near anything with it. To me its too much in the middle. Too slow to load super light without a lot of crud left behind, too fast to make magnum loads. I prefer a faster powder and a slower one, as for in the middle, I found power pistol and never looked back.

Not saying anyone is wrong about it as a go to, there are way to many people that like it for that to be the case, it just didnt work that great for me.
