What kind of Dog do you have?

At the moment I have 1 American Bulldog. Lost his brother last year to Hemangio Sarcoma. He was our third AB. Great dogs just shed a lot almost more than they drool. Oh and he is my first line of defense.

3 muts (mixed unknown terrier).

1 (actually known) 1/4 american bull - 3/4 american staffordshire terrier (looks like your tan am bull but a little more slight, he is only 85 lbs) Last alarm, and possibly the last thing an intruder will see, he is very serious about guarding his house

2 Chihuahua / datschund (?) mix (18 lbs, 85 lbs of stupid, was supposed to be pure breed, but daddy had to have gotten in under the fence and he is almost positively dats.) First thing heard, you'll never see him in the dark, he is black

3 Cattle dog (???) - 40 lbs of love and energy. Rescue with no history Second thing heard, sounds vicious, but no harm will come.

I've grown up with dogs (my wife sometimes comments I must have been raised by wolves, but I don't think she's referring to the pets I've had) and we currently have 3, but pet threads aren't a good fit for THR. People love their furry family members and will fill pages and pages with pictures of their four-legged friends. If the topic isn't firearms related it's probably best to reserve it for another site.

If you want to discuss the role of animals in self/home protection (a couple of ours fill the role of active alarm systems) we've had several discussions in Strategy & Tactics on this. I recommend looking at those threads or starting a new one about the role of animals in protecting the individual and home.

HSO that is what we are doing. Talking about the usefulness of dogs as an alarm or hd tool.

Regretfully, I have to agree with hso. I reopened this thread with the hope that it would stay focused on canines as an adjunct to a home defense system. Sadly, it became a dog photo thread, and off topic for THR. Can a dog make a difference? Here's one who did.

I'm closing it for good now. Nice looking dogs though!
