The American Indians put the warriors material possesions in his burial site, ancient Egyptians also place items of significance with the dead, many cultures have done this & some still do..., did you place an object in your dead best friend, loved one or any ones casket ??

My BIL died 10 years ago, he was a big man, smoked, drank & raised a lot of hell & knew everyone in 4 counties, he was told by his doctor to slow down & take his heart medicine, quit smoking & limit booze to a "few cans" a week & stop sleeping around......, his reply: "F#*KiT, if i have to live that way i may as well be dead..."

two weeks later his heart literaly exploded according to the medical examiner......

on the day the casket was closed forever, there was a six pack of Millers, a pack of Marlboros with 5 cigs taken out, a half bottle of Jack Daniels, several condoms, 5 Joints, a photo of his Mustang SS, several envelopes with cards with lipstick lip prints & his .22 pistol.......

What's his name and what cemetery where? Kidding of course and grave robbing is something best left to Indiana Jones & Lara Croft.

If my best friend so desired, I would bury him with worldly possessions. Of course, if it's a firearm, it would be heavily coated in grease to preseve it. Gotta make Indy's find interesting, right? Thankfully, the death of any of my friends is probably still a ways off.:)

About twenty years ago my cousin and best friend died. By the time he died our lives had taken different paths but we were still close; He lived a biker lifestyle, was killed in a dispute at a party.
Casket was black & chrome to match his Harley. Was buried in his leather jacket and blue jeans and I'm pretty sure more than one person tossed a joint or two in there. I put the keys to his bike in his jacket pocket - he never did like the idea of someone else riding his bike.
The bar opened early, the owner donated the beer. A couple hundred people got pretty hammered by late afternoon.

When I planned my Fathers funeral, I told my wife when I went she should put a flashlight and a cell phone in there with me just in case someone made a mistake about the he's dead thing. :D

If I never make it out of California before I die, I thought about having friends get me an AR-15 and enough 30-round mags so the coffin barely closes, because I can't be charged with a crime if I'm already dead.

But then they might get my friends on straw purchasing because I can't buy a gun if I'm dead.

:cuss: California!

my good friend died two years ago. he was not quite 16. i put blow pops in his casket. he always had one for me whenever i saw him so i figured i would repay the favor.

Miss ya Josh!:(

One of my best friends was killed about 4 months ago when a semi blew a stop light and slammed his truck. We had hunted together alot and even went hunting in Africa. His casket had an oudoor scene and his wife put a beanie bear with a #3 on it as he was a n Earnhardt fan. I wanted to put a .416 Weatherby cartridge in but though it wasn't appropriate. Now I wish I had. He loved anything that went bang and was once a class 3 firearms dealer and had hunted all over. He is sorely missed.:(

My uncle, who i was named after, died in a pickup accident when he was in his early 20's. He was buried with a nickle plated colt 70 series, cocked and locked with a full magazine.

When my grandfather passed a few years ago, at the full age of 96, my brother and I made sure he held in his hands his favorite cowboy hat and a pouch of Mail Pouch chewing tobacco. My cousins-in-law have lost both sons at an early age; one of an AD at age 14, the other of undiagnosed leukemia at 20 just last year. The youngest had his compound bow rig with him, the older had his favorite fishing rig.

My great-great grandfather was a second lieutenant in the Texas Cavalry during the War of Northern Aggression and is buried in a hilltop cemetary near the family farm. Several times a year I leave a fresh plug of chewing tobacco on his grave.

Regards,
Rabbit
