The title pretty much says what my question is. Basically what length AR buffer tube do i need for a rifle length gas tube?. Can i use a carbine length buffer tube or do i need a rifle length one. Im trying to build an SPR and i need to know this information before i buy my parts

Thanks

Um... Rifle Length. Seriously, the stock determines the buffer tube. Non collapsible stock get a rifle buffer tube. Collapsible stock get a carbine tube.

There are non-collapsible stocks that take a carbine tube. It just depends on the actual stock you choose.

It's not a good idea to put a carbine stock on a rifle-length buffer tube as this will damage the receiver as the gas key impacts the receiver.

Ok, I thought this was all pretty elementary, but apparently, some people don't understand something. Maybe it's me.

The original poster asked what BUFFER TUBE they needed for a rifle length GAS TUBE. The correct answer is: It doesn't matter.

The buffer tube type is dependant on the stock.

Putting a carbine stock on a rifle length buffer tube has nothing to do with the gas key. Honestly, I don't know how you'd even do that, but you're confusing the stock, which is OUTSIDE the buffer tube, with the buffer and buffer spring, which is INSIDE the tube. Y'all are making this more complicated than it needs to be.

The gas tube length does not affect the buffer tube length.
