Went to the CCI Ammunition page today and found that the ONLY .22 rimfire ammunition that was not "unobtainable" are the CCI Velocitors. They have a 10 box limit @ $9.95 per, so I ordered the limit. These will come to you direct from the factory, which is not very normal.
The rounds are pretty accurate from a couple of my .22 rifles, but they are sure hard on critters destined for a cast iron skillet, unless, like for "tree rats" one through the chest can be managed consistently.
The one thing I did notice, was the absence of any picture, or even mention, of the CCI .17 MACH II rimfire ammunition, only the .17 HMR, but still, those were not available. I still have a stash of the .17 MACH II Hornady ammunition with the boxes marked "First Production Run".

The MACH 2s were hard to find before the panic now they are probably impossible.
My local Academy had these on the ammo shelf & nothing more. Maybe I need to go back to shooting my HMR. LOL

Do you think the 17 Mach II's are not as in demand as the 17 HMR and other 17's with considerably higher velocities?
It may be a caliber that becomes obsolete? I just don't see 17 mach II's in my area but a lot of 17 HMR's. I have a 17 HMR semi and use it a fair bit, my 22 is collecting dust except for when I need a quiet subsonic 710 fps bullet.

I have a 17M2 10/22 conversion kit that I have been sitting on for awhile. I have never been able to find ammo from a local retailer since around 2005 which is near the time it came out. Back then I had a M2 bolt gun. Savage or Marlin. Cannot remember. Of course it has mostly been available online until now. I have just never bought any.

No big deal to me. The conversion kit was free.

I looked at the kits and ammo availability was my big concern. Finally made a good decision by waiting. The round is cool and at the slow speed should make a long lasting barrel.

I lovemy 17 mach II's and use one a lot for semi urban varminting bought a couple cases for like 3.25 a box right after sandy hook... glad Idid- not using it to plink really so it should last me a long time... would love to get a Contender barrel one day...

It's a dang shame if they've abandoned the .17 Mach II ammunition. Cases were formed from the .22 Stinger case by CCI, so if that ammunition is not listed on their site, I doubt that Hornady, Remington and Federal are likely to stock any. I have an xtra barrel for my Ruger 77/22 in .17 Mach II, and as was posted above used that round mostly for eradicating small vermin with the nasty habit of chewing on every stationary thing around our empire.

There are a few local places that still have it on their shelves. They also have signs saying “This is not the same as 17HMR.” Last I looked I think it was $8.95 a box. I have a good amount for my 17HM2s (hellooooo CZ 452s!) so I haven’t picked them up in case other M2 fans out there need it.

I also picked up a good supply a while back when they’d go on sale. I think I’m under $5 a box on them. It is my favorite rimfire cartridge and probably competes for my favorite cartridge entirely. It’s devastating in the squirrel woods and is a relatively flat shooter when used within its useful range. My furthest squirrel to date was 127 yards.
