I have never carried before and will only be able to carry infrequently in neighboring states, as I live in Maryland. What is your preferred carry position? 1 o'clock, 2,3,4,5,6? I'm right handed and not a huge guy. 5'10" and about 175 lbs. I'm thinking IWB. I don't think I'd be comfortable carrying the gun in front (1 or 2 o'clock, a little scary). 3 o'clock seems like it might be more noticeable? And 4,5 and 6 o'clock seem like they would be more difficult to get the shirt out of the way and the gun out.

I had never really thought about it much before. But now that I am, I'd like to know what you folks would recommend and why.

Thanks for any input.

It's winter time, how about a shoulder-rig making it a cross-draw. The weight is spread across your shoulders-back, making it comfortable for the heaviest pistol or revolver. In winter-time, the only way for me..
Experiment with SS, CD, and shoulder carry...Good luck...:)

I've been carrying concealed for years and now place the gun in the 1 to 2 o'clock position because of shoulder issues with 4 - 5 o'clock position draw. I think I've grown to like the up front position better. It is no problem with a Colt Defender or Commander.

Usually IWB at 4:00, but no one carry position covers all possible situations. I find this position uncomfortable and poorly accessible when sitting or especially driving, for example.

Right side hip (bag) standing/walking/driving, lap in my wheelchair. BUG in right front pocket with pocket clip.

IWB strong side 4:00

Getting my shirt out of the way is no problem. Just grab as far over with your off-hand as you can and rip that sucker up. You'll be showing some skin but honestly, if you're drawing your pistol, I doubt anyone will notice.;)

The easiest way to IWB for most people is to go for the "pocket" behind the hip at about the 4-4:30 position, with a slight forward cant.

Depending on what I'm doing. Sitting a lot 10 oclock or shoulder holster . Moving around 3:30-4:00 iwb or owb. It also has a lot to do with which gun I'm carrying.

I suspect that most people who carry every day carry in the 4:00 to 4:30 position (behind the right -- or strong side -- hip bone) and most of those carry IWB.

IWB about 4 o'clock. Been kicking around the idea of moving it to weak side for crossdraw.

I used to carry IWB 4:00 or so, but since getting a revolver in the carry mix I have switched to OWB about 3:00....

Depends on the situation and what I am wearing for the day. During the summer, I carry a Kel-tec P11 in a pocket holster strong side pocket. During the winter I carry the same gun strong side either IWB at 5 o'clock or OWB in a Fobus at 3:30.

CZ75 IWB 3:30-4:00 depending on whether driving or not, couple notches of forward cant.

Be sure to get a QUALITY belt to hang it from. Don't go cheap on the belt. Check out The Beltman and you cannot go wrong.
