For me...self defense.

For the country on the whole...tyrannical government

This was surprisingly easy. Defense. On the record I might have said hunting, but as the saying goes, you can either trust blindly in the goodwill of all people, especially those in power, or be prepared.

History has taught us countless lessons. It would be utterly stupid not to learn anything from them, no matter how eloquent and convincing politicians' excuses are, or how much crime is belittled.

I've been to a good number of countries where firearms are tightly controlled. i don't know exactly why, but tyrannical governments seem to go hand in hand with gun restrictions. it may sound extreme, but it's the way i see it. it's not just a gun, it's a physical reminder of the agreed upon rights we have as Americans between us and the government.

1. It is my responsibility as an American citizen to participate in arming myself to guard against potential tyranny from any government from within and abroad.
2. It is my God given responsibility to protect and defend myself and those who can not defend themselves from any evil that may potentially destroy human life.

Simple.
+1 No government can limit my right to protect myself and those dear to me.

Where's "All of the Above"?

Seriously though, I picked "Collecting" because I really don't get to shoot that often (recreation), I don't compete, I quit hunting, and home/personal defense is a secondary concern. I do believe that having guns is essential to defending against tyranny and should it come to that you can count me in, but the main reason I buy the specific guns that I do is mostly due to a firearm's history, design, aesthetics, and/or "cool factor".

I don't believe in wallhangers or safe queens though.
I buy things so that I can have unlimited access to their use. "Collector's value" be damned.

I like to hunt, shoot, want to be ale to defend myself, and would like to think i would stand firm against anything needed. can't pick just one.

I believe every living creature on this planet has the natural right to defend itself to the best of its ability, regardless of how small or insignificant it is. I believe this right comes not from God, government, or a piece of paper but from life itself. From the second you draw your first breath. As a human creature, I believe this right includes access to firearms, as they are the most effecient and in some cases the only method of effective defense.

Numero Uno> Defense against a tyrannical government
2) Self-defense (Home defense, protecting family, etc)
3) Recreation (trap, skeet, targets, competition, etc)
4) Hunting (for food, sport, etc)
5) Collection (Curio and Relic, heirlooms, pure collecting, etc)
