I mostly use a Rem. 700 8x57 and occationally a couple milsurps. My usual load is a 200 gr NP but have used some factory loads in the M48 and the Turk. When not using them it ranges from 45 Colt Rifle and Pistol, 357 pistol, 30-30 and 243.

I've used, .243 win., .270 win., 7mm-08, and .444 marlin. I've hunted with, but not shot a deer with 30-06 and 30-30. I don't own a 30-30 anymore. I've also killed deer with .41 and .44 magnum Smith and Wesson revolvers. A deer killed with a revolver is a special treat.

In my youth I used a bolt action 22 wmr( at night ). But I out grew that and used many modern calibers: mostly 30-30 and .308 win. Now I use a smooth bore 20ga flintlock or a bow.

I voted 8x57, but i actually use the "rimmed" version of that cartridge.

I much prefer to work up a hunting load for my guns, consisting of the proper load/bullet for the "biggest animal" that i will shoot with "that" gun, then use that load on everything i hunt with that gun. SO, i load my 8x57jrs with 200NP's, at 2,550fps, and it's worked very good on every thing from moose on down, includeing the last 20 something bucks and a few does i shot.

I voted "other" since I've taken deer with both .30-30 and .35 Rem. I intend to try my hand with my Marlin 1894c in .357 Mag this year.

I shot my first deer with a 25-06. but ive used everything up to a .338win mag. This year I plan on trying out my 500s&w Handi-Rifle. I like to get blood on all my guns at least once. Builds character. lol

I can't see the poll because of TapaTalk. But I'm pretty sure it's safe to assume that .257 Roberts isn't listed. Have an Argentine Mauser that I've been using for the past 10 years. I also have a .308 but I only use that for overlapping deer/bear season.

Brought to you by TapaTalk.

I'm not fixated on any one particular cartridge, which one I use (an inventory that includes the .257 Roberts, the .257 Weatherby Magnum, the 30-30 Winchester, the 45-70 Government, the .308 Winchester, the 7x64 Brenneke and the 30-06 Springfield) depends somewhat on where I'm hunting at, plains or heavy timber; scope or receiver sight, etc. For the last few years when hunting in Michigan cedar swamps and Pennsylvania forested cover for whitetails, I've been more than satisfied using a Savage Model 99, chambered in .358 Winchester (using 200 grain "SilverTips"), with a Redfield 1.5X5 "WideField" mounted on it. But I could just about use any of the afore-mentioned rifles most places where I hunt with no problem (though my peep-sighted 30-30 and 45-70 rifles are a little more habitat specific).

308 here. Open fields, thick woods, hills, flatlands, etc.

Have used others on your list in the past, but 308 is my favorite(whitetail/mule/hogs/elk)....as this is what my favorite rifle is chambered in.

Several including but not limited to .223, .270WCF, .30-30, .38-40, .405WCF, .44Mag, .45Colt, .54 roundball.

Hmmm, .223, .25-35, 7x57, 7mm Rem, 7.62x39, .270, .300 Savage, .303 British, .30-06.

Hunted with all of these at one time or another.

But by far, most of my deer have been taken using a .30-30, usually a Marlin. :)

That all depends on the type of terrrain we/I'm going to be in that day. If I'm doin a "push" I'll carry my model 7 in 243 or the 7mm-08 20 inch barrel. Or, the 06 or the .270. We usully carry two guns in the pig-ups just for that reason.

I do have other rifles that I occasionally use but for the most part I've been using the same Winchester model 70 in .270 since 1979 with 130g bullet to hunt Texas deer both in the Piney woods of the east and in the hill country out west.

Federal Premium with Sierra Game King 130 BTSP shoots the best in it

I've killed one with a .30-30 Winchester 1894

I've also hunted them with, but not shot at them with .30-06, 8mm Mauser and a .30-30 340 Savage loaded with 150gr. spitzers.

If I have a place to hunt with rifles next year, I hope to add a 6.5x55 to the collection...eventually a 7mm-08 and a .270 win as well.
