What route to take for a suppressed .22?

Basically what I'm asking is, would it be a better choice to get an integrally suppressed .22 pistol, like a Gemtech Oasis, or go the traditional route and get, say, a SIG Mosquito with a threaded barrel and simply buy a can for it? Is there any reason one of these two options would be a better choice?

Buy a thread on suppressor if you may want to use it on other firearms of the same caliber. integrals are nice and I feel offer a better level of suppression. However you are stuck with just the one gun. With a thread on can you can use it on handguns or rifles as long as they are threaded and they are normally less expensive than an integral. Screw on cans are more versatile and because you can use different hosts make shooting more fun.

FWIW, regardless of what suppressor you buy, I recommend the Ruger Mark I/II/III platform. Its enclosed breech really helped reduce debris blown back in my face, when I was evaluating what .22 pistol platform to go with for 100% suppressed shooting.

Lots of bang for my money. And the Ruger MkII's the best!

The Sig Mosquito has an atrocious trigger pull, but it does come threaded. I sell a lot of them.

The Walther P22 is smaller and not bad - I sell a few of them.

The Ruger Mark 3 with the threaded barrel is a nice platform. I frequently sell out of them.

Nowadays it seems the trend is moving away from integrals as you can move your can from gun to gun.
