Lucky - No problem. Honestly, I have no idea what the reasoning is behind the "certain techniques for certain folks" thing, but it is what it is. I don't like it either, but I'm still planning on taking Krav Maga as soon as I can. Even without the higher techniques, they teach you A LOT, and you do get some weapons training.
Cassandrasdaddy - That's not entirely true. I don't know if it's true with all martial arts, but I do know that Krav Maga and a few other street-fight type martial arts DO indeed have separate training "curriculum" for LEO & military types ONLY. No amount of "good attitude", please-n-thankyou or money will change that.
But like I said above - they are not necessarily that different than what is offered to the public. As I understand it, the difference between LEO-type training excercises and "regular joe" type exercises, is mainly weapons-based - IE, there is more training in the use of weapons (gun, baton, etc) with the martial art in question with the LEO version. Disarms, etc - probably about the same.
