While I'm trying to figure out what I want for my primary carry gun I'm trying to get by with my Bobcat .22 that I purchased 9 years ago. I haven't shot it much (since it stayed in Michigan while I spent several years in the anti pistol state of New York). I just tried shooting Winchester Xpert Hollow Point through it this weekend and it wasn't even ejecting the spent casing out of the barrel. I think I put some CCI through it a few years ago with less trouble. Can anyone recommend a more reliable ammo type?

Tried and true in MY Bobcat. Mini-mags and stingers. The Bobcat requires high-velocity ammo, so any hot .22 lr should be okay.

I have two of these guns. Niether likes Winchester X-pert at all for some reason. I stay away from all Winchester .22s in my autos because I have had more jams with that brand than any other.

My Beretta 21As like Remington Golden Bullet for practice and CCI Stingers for carry. The Remington is super cheap and has been 100% reliable in many hundred rounds through these guns. The CCI Stingers also have been 100% but I don't shoot as much of that ammo because it cost more.

Try some Remington Golden Bullets, if you are still having problems, try one or two makes. If you continue to have problems, try CCI Stinger. If you STILL have problems, you probably need work done or a new mag.

I had the same problems with my Bobcat a few years ago. The Bobcats seem to be more reliable with high velocity rounds like CCI Stingers. I eventually switced to the 25acp Jetfire because of reliability issues. 25acp leaves something to be desired, but it was 100% reliable in my Beretta Jetfire, & many others that I've read about.

My Jetfire has been 100%

And I keep it loaded with Magsafe ammunition. (I read an article in Combat Handguns which stated that .25ACP Magsafes were at least as good as .32ACP Silvertips. Yeah, I know--magazine article:rolleyes: ) But, I've been tempted to buy a Bobcat for years. I think I'd use non HP FMJ Mini Mags. That truncated bullet chambers awfully well for me. Hummm. Temptation~

They definitely like the high velocity stuff. Also keep extra mags on hand because the springs seem to die faster than others in my experience.

My bobcat likes almost anything except the cheap federal stuff. Remington bulk pack works, though.

Highest velocity stuff out there is the CCI stingers as well as the new CCI Velocitors- these have gold dot hollow points in them, as an added bonus.

Ditto. My M21A just loves Remington Thunderbolt ammo.

However it'd be the last gun I'd carry for CCW. Why? The effort required to clear a misfire. The firing pin practically swages the misfired case to the popup barrel.

If I were to use a .22 LR handgun for self-defense it'd be a revolver.

I'd load it with CCI Velocitor.
