What sights do you have on your SBS?

I have an SBS'd Remington 870 with the XS sighted barrel on it. The XS Sights are great on this gun. I also have an SBS'd 12ga Mossberg shockwave. The bead sighted barrel shot a foot high at 7 yards for me. I have since got a 14" factory Mossberg barrel with a ramped front sight. I need a rear sight for this to work.

I am considering either the Aridus CROM or a XS Shotrail. Both can accept an optic but the crom would allow a co-witness with the sights.

Any input?

I point my 870 with its 9.5" barrel at things and squeeze the trigger and the thing I'm aiming at blows up - I like shooting rotted old stumps, kinda fun seeing them blow up, especially with wax-filled birdshot 'slugs.' Hole up front is slug sized, while the one in back tends to be large and full of smoke from the wax vaporizing. Seems for 10 yards and under it's easy to point and click with this gun and hit targets, for me anyway. Maybe if I tried harder I'd miss more. Used to be like that with archery as a kid. If I thought about the target too much I'd miss. Just raising the bow and letting the arrow go tended to stack them pretty close to the same spot every time.

I made the shorty for HD and bear defensive use, each application tending to involve very close range shooting. It'll never be a hunting gun. I have hunting guns for that. Didn't want a front sight that might catch on my pack while pulling it out during a hike interrupted by a bear - I keep it in a small pack as a) open carry isn't legal here, and b), alarming other hikers by having a gun visible would not be desirable. I figure from shooting it a little I could manage a decent hit at 20 yards, and anything beyond that is unlikely to be a 'defensive' shot anyway so probably better to wait for a target aggressor to come in closer and be threatening... though I did properly mount a rail, corners polished round so they don't catch on anything, in case I ever wanted to use it for some hunting with a dot sight and 1oz rifled slugs. Looking down the middle of the rail makes for fairly decent aiming.

On a 14 " Remington 870 an Olight Baldor Pro green Lazer / 1500 lumen light on a Aluminum pic rail on a Magpul foreend.
