I picked up a savage trophy hunter in .308 a few months ago and really like it. I like the walnut stock on it but would prefer a synthetic stock for daily use. I'm not sure what (if any) aftermarket stocks will fit this gun so any help you can provide would be appreciated.

If I remember correctly that is a model !!. Any short action stock made for a Savage should work. I picked up a Savage Accustock in digital camo at the last gunshow for $40.

Check at the savage shooters forum. Some guys buy other stocks like from boyds and have plastic stocks burryied away in some corner.

Not really,it depends on whether it is a centerfeed or a staggerfeed. They are not interchangable(without a good bit of modification).
Agreed.

Giving bad advice is giving bad advice. If you don't know the answer...don't reply.

I'm a huge Savage fan, but Savage as a company annoys me because they change things around and I feel that is the reason why there aren't as much aftermarket support as say the 700 action. If Savage would just stick with a standard...it would make things so much better for Savage owners.

Measure your action screw spacing! the newest stock before the Accustock measure 4.40" and take a blind centerfeed mag(stays in the stock) The older staggerfeed mags are attached to the reciever, and the spacing is 4.25"

Looks like all the trophy hunters had DBM, savage offers it in synthetic.

I have the Savage 16 and am having the opposit problem. Synthetic stock and looking for wood. Seems pretty hard to find one that excepts hinged floor plate/DM without extensive modifications that I don't feel comfortable doing...

I thought that they were DBM too. Don't say anything or Aubie will tell that you don't know squat.
