What to do about a trigger with TOO light of pull?

I think my CZ-75 SP-01 has a TOO light trigger pull. It was done by a gunsmith [a few years ago] who switched it to a SA only pistol, with comp hammer. Is it going to be an issue of switching out for a new hammer or sear? What can be done with the current hammer and sear to make the pull a bit heavier?

What is the trigger pull weight? The 'smith should be able to increase it if need be.

I am not sure of the pull weight. I don't have a way to determine this. But if a smith can make the pull a bit heavier, I will set up a time to meet with one.

It could easily be a matter of switching springs to a heavier spring rate.

The comp hammer/sear set gives you a crisp let-off, and probably doesn't need to be changed. You can probably get a trigger pull you're comfortable with with a simple spring swap. The gunsmith can do this, or you probably could as well, if you're comfortable detail-stripping the gun.

Good luck!

I would say swap out your springs first (cheapest first, always). Then see what you're looking like.

I wouldn't have thought that a stronger spring could heavy up the pull. I will keep that in mind when I take it to my gunsmith. I hope that the heavier spring is what will do it for me. Thanks for the suggestions. :)

The hammer spring.
Stock is around 20#
Comp. is around =/ less than 13# with a coil or two cut off. (usually needs the extended firing pin or use of Fed primers to avoid light hits.)
15# is what the CZ Custom Shop puts in for most "Trigger Jobs".

You can buy a hammer spring "Pak" from Wolff Springs at gunsprings.com for a nominal cost to try a variety of trigger weights. (4 springs, $20?)
It's not hard to do, and instructions are available on http://www.czfirearms.us/

The DA and or SA pull weight is directly affected by this spring.
For "me" The SA is less affected below the 15# weight.

P.S. If you can't "feel" the trigger reset after firing, a heavier spring will bringsome additional "feel" back too.

I went through the same thing with my CZ 75B SA. We installed the competition hammer and reduced power spring, the pull was absolutely smooth and flawless - but like you are probably feeling you lose a lot of the feel in the trigger for sear engagement and reset. In addition I was also having light tap issues running the reduced power spring, and I don't necessarily want to own a gun I don't trust to go bang every time I pull the trigger.

Simply putting back in the factory power hammer spring fixed everything. I can now feel proper sear engagement, and have a more pronounced reset click. The short travel of the hammer and crisp break still remain, but everything takes a bit more effort - which I like.

Realistically swapping the spring is a VERY easy thing to do, you shouldn't hesitate at all doing this at home. CZ forums have some very detailed and good write ups on how to break the pistol down - with those the spring swap will be about a 5 minute project.
