What to do with a Ruger 7mm?

You could try adding a bit of weight to the stock, or a different recoil pad. Or, if you reload, find a reduced load that's accurate in your rifle. You might even consider a different stock.

For the bench buy a "Past Magnum" recoil pad you wear. I can shoot hundreds of rounds at the range without shoulder issues. You don't shoot enough hunting to worry about recoil. 7mm rem mag is a fine caliber. Here's a link.

I've thought about getting one of those recoil pads or a shirt with a built-in pad. I think I'll buy one of these and move the scope fwd to give me more eye relief and let me hold the rifle a little deeper. If that doesn't help, I'll probably trade it for a .223/.240 rem/.260 rem/.308 rather than looking into a muzzle brake.

jmr40 You can still find some of hornady's lite and heavy mag stuff on the shelves so i was just being sure he new that it is not a down loaded ammo. I just picked up some old stock 7mm R M heavy mag loads from the back corners of my local general store/gunshop. Price was 17 bucks a box. Same lot number as the old box's I have that are 8 years old.
