What type of bullet is this?

When my grandfather gave me his Winchester Model 70, he also have me a couple boxes of assorted ammo that is easily older than I am. Most are soft points, but this one cartridge stood out due to the metallic tip. It isn't a typical full metal jacket. Is it an old style ballistic tip?

Bronze point, my dad loved them in 150 grain for his 30-06 for deer.

It's a rather fast expanding bullet that was great for rib shots!

I still have a box of 180gr .308" bullets here...

It's my understanding that along with many of the Core-Lokt bullets, Remington has discontinued the bronze-points as components...As shown, they are still being sold as loaded ammo...

In some circles they are said to perform erratically in both expansion and flight deviation...

I've never had an issue with them, but then I don't push them overly hard in my 7400...
