My buddy and I know of some places where there are ots of hogs here in Texas. We want to keep them coming back to the same spot to root. We were going to start baiting and wanted to see if any of you had any special tactics. I was going bait with hog wild or pig out 12-24 hrs before the hunt. What do you think? Will this work?

Fill a 5 gallon bucket with corn and water and let rot about 2 weeks. Then take a post hole digger and make a hole about the 8-10" across and 2' deep. Pour the corn in and hunt the spot. The hogs will spend weeks digging a crater trying to get all of the corn out. It works great it just smells awful.

12 to 24 hours out is not enough time to attract hogs it takes weeks of baiting the same spot for the piggy's to get the message and make your spot a regular visiting point.

The longer you bait a spot the better/ more consistent it will get.

Try what ashtxsniper said, my dad used to do something similar, he would mix that rotten corn with something like watermelon or strawberry jello and mix it up real good and let get nice and rotten and put it in our hog traps. We never burried it, but either ways are bound to work.
