There are ten million options for a (concealed) carry gun: revolvers, hammer-fired pistols, striker-fired guns, and derringers in a wide variety of calibers -- from .25 up to (practically) .357.

Wondering what your top 3 picks from the list below would be. Or would you pick just one and stick with that 100% of the time. (Or would you not pick any on the list and carry ________ instead?

Here's a "curated" list to choose from:

.32 ACP: Beretta model 70, model 81, FEG P66 (Walther PP copy)

.380: S&W M&P .380 EZ, Beretta model 85f

9mm: S&W CS9, S&W 3914, S&W 6906, S&W 6946, M&P Shield EZ, Beretta PX4 compact, Sig 320c (no safety), Star BM

.40 S&W: SW99 compact (or Walther P99c ), Sig P250 sub or compact, Beretta 940

.45 ACP: S&W CS45, S&W 4513, Sig 320

So, which three would be under your shirt?

Beretta px4 compact. Nice size, nice capacity, light recoil, and still in production! I have one and it’s a sweet piece.

Beretta 70, and call it good. Something I would carry 24/7. Accurate, reliable, and sexy!
Shaken, not stirred….
Lefty

None of those would be my choices, but choosing among only those, I would go with the PX4 Compact. A little thicker than my preference for a CCW, but it's a terrific pistol.

Many years ago I did sometimes carry a Star BM. Now I wouldn't willingly choose anything on that list, but I could make most of 'em work if I had to. Since wrecking my right shoulder in the early spring of '21 I've been mostly carrying a Ruger LCRx lefty in a belly band. But once my arm is as good at it's gonna get again I'll go back to my HK P2000 in town and P30S in .40 cal in the woods.

I don't see my preference on the list either. Though I may still carry my P365 on occasion, I pretty much only carry a G19 (gen4) 100% of the time now. I don't see that changing... possibly ever.

From your list I have owned but not necessarily carried: a Beretta Model 70 and a Walther PP in .32ACP, a Beretta Model 85 and 84 (carried) in .380ACP, a S&W Model 469 and a 6906 (both carried), and a Star Model B (not on the list but a great training gun) in 9mm., and none of the listed models in .40S&W and .45ACP.

I would carry a Star BM, S&W Model 6906, and a S&W CS9.

My own preferences, and not on your list, would be a: SIG P365X, Ruger SR9c, CZ P01, Kahr CM9 in 9mm. and a Colt Commander in .38 Super/9mm., and a Colt Mustang, SIG P238, and a Ruger LCP MAX in .380.

I don’t personally own much on that list so I’d have to shoot them to be sure, but on that list the most likely would be the PX4 9mm or the SW99 compact in .40.

Right size and weight and I don’t mind a DA/SA for carry. Though, I’d prefer a Glock 19 or 365XL.

I do prefer to keep to as close to a single carry gun as possible, I do occasionally change but accordingly change my dry fire and weekly practice gun to suit, I don’t really care for “rotations”.

I don’t carry, but if I did it would likely be something plastic in 9mm.

Given so much positive feedback on the Sig 365 line, and having handled on at my LGS, I’d probably lean that way.

Again, not on your list

For a compact pistol with limited barrel length, some of the 3rd gen. S&W 9mm options - either a 3914, or 6906. CS9 is a great pistol, but a little bit too small for my taste. All of them will do actually - those are some great, but underappreciated guns. And yes, I would carry only one pistol 100% of the time, like I did for the last 15 years.

Or would you not pick any on the list and carry ________ instead?

Yes.
My criteria: No DA/SA, No magazine disconnect, No manual safety excepting a 1911

.32 ACP: I'm not physically limited, frail, nor a slave to unrequired shirt tucking, so betting my life 32 acp is a NOPE
.380: If I had to wear dress pants and a tucked shirt and could not effectively conceal a PM9 in pocket then a LCP 380 is "better than nothing"
9mm: PM9 and/or Sig 365 for pocket, Glock 19, 17 on belt. If under a 10 round limit (I'm not) then 365 on belt and PM9 in pocket.
.40 S&W: Glock 23, 22, or 35 - If under a 10 round limit (I'm not) then Glock 27
.45 ACP: Glock 21, 30SF, or 1911

I carried a 3914 for quite a few years so that would be my pick.It recently got replaced by a sig.

All of those are compact size pistols with safety levers?

For that size class, make mine a 9mm. And give me the one with a frame mounted safety lever. I’ll always choose a locked breech 9mm over a blowback .380 in that size.
My carry pistol has no safety at all. When I pull the trigger it should go bang, no matter what. The only purpose of a safety is to stop it from going bang. If it doesn’t go bang you get killed.
The safety is by not pulling the trigger.

My carry pistols and revolvers have no manual safety levers either.

I was merely sticking to the type of guns the OP had mentioned, which seemed to be mostly metal framed with safety levers. If I had to choose a carry gun with a safety lever, I prefer the frame mounted type that swings down to fire.
