What would you pay for a used Cz P-01? (Or EAA Witness?)

EAA

To the original poster. The Kadet kit is awesome. That alone makes the CZ a winner over the Witness.

I've heard people gripe about the service from nearly every manufacturer from A to Z
EAA has earned their reputation, and it isn't just a couple people.

but find that if I call with some patience and understanding for the poor person on the other end of the phone, I invariably am treated well and wind up satisfied.
EAA doesn't employ very many people, and often you find yourself talking to one of the owners. When they're rude and condescending, it kinda makes you wonder what kinda company you're dealing with. What's odd is that occasionally they are actually helpful (never once to me though). Go Figure.

Start asking dealers about EAA. You might find out some interesting things.

OK, I've been one of the lucky ones in my dealings with EAA. If, in fact, they are as bad as they are alleged to be, why don't the disgruntled owners go to the Tanfoglio site and complain? Tanfoglio is a large, well respected manufacturer and I'm sure a really proactive helpful distributor such as RAA would be happy to represent them.

Actually

Many have tried contacting Tanfoglio regarding EAA (me included). In fact, one member even tried talking to one of the Tanfoglios (at the SHOT show I believe). Didn't care.

They don't care. Why, is beyond me. If you're familiar with EAA's attempts at marketing, and their usual presentation at the big product shows, you'd perhaps realize that EAA is not doing Tanfoglio any favors. At one show they used bellboy luggage carts as their "presentation" platform.

BTW, Springfield Armory used to be the U.S. agent for Tanfoglio. I don't exactly know why the Tanfoglios are now handled by such a second rate company as EAA. I've heard some rumours about Mr. Tanfoglio himself, but nothing substantial.

Tanfoglio is a quirky company. The whole deal with Sarsilmaz and the Armalite has some interesting elements to it. Supposedly the Turks had an agreement with Tanfolgio to not import pistols but... Again, nothing substantial to work on here.

I think the state of the Tanfoglio pistols in the US is definitely part EAA's fault, and actually part Tanfoglio's fault.

My .45 Witness in the Wonder finish has been great, a friend liked it, and grabbed up a used one that needed a slide return spring, and a grip screw. He ordered them from EAA and they did a good job getting him the parts, and were nice to him on the phone too. I want to get another fullsized Witness in .40S&W some day after I get a couple of others on my list.

Yeah I know, but I would rather buy a whole 'nother gun!
Yep, know what you mean. New ones are available for about $360. Still a heck of a bargin!

Not to hijack this thread but I put a deposit on a po1 a couple weeks ago...It was in like new condition and sold for $340 with only one mag. I just went to the gun store last night and saw a new one for $468 with 2 mags.

Now do you guys think it's worth the extra cost for the new one? For me to get another mag for the used one it will cost around $25, so that's would be a difference of only $100. I think I'm leaning towards the new one now.
