what zoom power should I use?

Is there a zoom power should I use for each range?

Currently I use a caldwell lead sled for testing new rounds and sighting in but other than that I shoot off of a bi-pod.

when I use a rest I zoom all the way in for any range and off a bipod not nearly as much due to not being as steady.

Of corse this is for target shooting or when I have time to zoom in but for hunting I zoom out for faster target aqusition.

I use a 6-24 x 50mm Simmons.

Use as much power as you can comfortably hold steady would be my suggestion and keep it at minimum power in the field for acquisition. In other words, you're doing it right.
