Whats a good ultralight scope/rings?

Im scoping my m1a and its a heavy beast! Looking to cut a bit of weight on her so I dont get any more exercise than I need to

I hear the m1a recoil is pretty intense for most scopes so 1- are light scopes wimpy?

2- are light rings/scopes worth it or will I experience wandering zero issues, especially since Im gonna be shooting this thing quite a bit?

Light weight scopes are easier to keep secure as they don't stress the mounts as much as a heavier scope... but the stronger, more robust and reliable scopes are often built heavier.
A high quality light weight scope, without a large objective lens and other gimmicks will give the most reliable service.

If you place a quality scope with a good base/rings you should not have issues at all with a wandering zero due to recoil.
Think Leupold if light in weight is what you are looking for.
Just compare most Leupolds to other makes in over all length and weight and you will see what I am saying here.

The Leupold lightweights are robust and have a lifetime warranty. You will sacrifice some optical performance for lighter weight - generally, lightweight scopes lose the weight by reducing the number of lens elements. Asking fewer internal lens elements to carry the freight, so to speak, means that certain chromatic and field abberations cannot be corrected.

But all in all, I've been pretty happy with the lightweight VXII that I had on my BAR II Safari in 270 - it held up just fine and worked well in the woods.

I'm not really sure you are going to notice a few ounces saved on a heavy gun like the M1A, but if you still want to, I'd look at the Leupold VX or FX Ultralight scopes. Not sure about rings becuase I don't know what kind you would need to fit the M1A.
