Hey y'all,

Saw an ad for a nice-looking Saiga 308 with little use as follows for $600. I know they have gone for less in the past, but we can't turn back the clock, so I'm hoping to find out if this is a decent deal in the current climate. Nice looking wood sporter stock.

Hornady ammo getting just under an 1" at 110yards. I have three boxes of ammo through it.

Well worth that price in wood. Why? because it is allready converted for you, that saves you about 150 bucks, so I would be running at it, while opening the wallet as I went.....
You can now add furniture , rails, lights, etc., all you want, becuase the trigger parts are allready done for you, and moved forward. So you can have a set up just like that, for regular hunting work, and set aside another pile of stuff, for it's ' tacticool' look and work, if you want.

even better is, the one in the pic looks to have a short bbl, normally the woodies only have the 22 incher, and also a hogback stock, and not a thumbhole. very nice.

Umm... what? Both of the Saigas pictured in this thread appear to have the trigger at the back of the receiver, unless im missing something here.

Well, I missed-out on the one I had a bead on. One hour too late! So looking for another... Any tips or links greatly appreciated!

Anybody know if there's any difference in configuration between the regular wood stock 308's and the 308 ver.21's with the thumbhole stock? Thanks!

Okay, so I've learned something important: the Ver.21 has a different receiver. It is a 'slant cut' in that it is cut in from where the stock joins, effectively shortening the receiver and bringing the trigger group closer to the magazine. Is this the 'converted' configuration? Does this mean the Ver.21 is 922r compliant with big ol' magazines? Thanks!

Well, it is not a different receiver, I think. The receiver that is the standard, for the Saigas are set up in a sporterized configuration. To change them, you basically move the trigger group forward, to a pre-existing spot.

Check out the SAiga forums website. http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?

They certainly look different, and I believe are, and are referred-to differently. One's called the slant cut receiver, this one is clearly different, or at least looks it...
