Specifically for those with the 22 inch barrel. I just acquired a Saiga in .308 with the long barrel and it's just a tad front heavy, I don't mind the weight, just the balance. Do any of you have wood furniture on yours and is it enough extra weight to even up the balance at all? I have both factory stocks and and like them, so I was considering drilling a couple of holes in the stock and adding some pencil lead. I like the look of wood though. Thoughts?

Also what is the best way to mount a bi-pod on one of these guys? I'd like something fairly easy to remove. Thanks.

Mine is also barrel heavy, but that doesn't seem to be a problem, as I rest it when I shoot. Forgive me for not knowing quite where to measure from, so I can't tell you the length. I am also considering a bi-pod.

Pencil lead is graphite, not real (heavy) lead. Try melted down wheel weights or lead sinkers if that's the direction you're going in.

fill your stock with candle wax. no. seriously. it will help. plus, your rifle might end up smelling like vanilla, or cinnamon apples, or some such crap. imagine how that might work to your advantage, during deer season.

just don't let your wife catch you.

:D I meant the coiled lead used for river fishing, we've always called it pencil lead. Wax is an interesting thought, I wonder if I'd have an issue with heat(like leaving it in the truck on a hot day)?

The wax may soften, but I doubt it'll melt outright. I suppose a good way to test is to put a candle near an operating toaster oven or fireplace.
