What's in Your Murse?

I think the best parts of murse handgun carry are:

* It makes no difference what you are wearing, your gun will be with you.

* You don't have to "dress to carry."

* Size becomes far less of an issue. You carry what you are most confident with and not what will gouge your love handle the least.

* You'll actually have the gun with you -- you won't leave it behind because it's too much of a hassle.

I'm not sure having your carry pistol locked in your car, in your back seat, or locked in your desk is the most useful and accessible list of locations.

Well, when I'm actually in the vehicle, my murse is next to me. When I go into say the post office, it (or some of its contents) remain in the vehicle which would be the case no matter how I carried my firearm.

Logic and experience dictates that a purse is easier to steal than a holstered handgun. It's good that you personally have not lost or misplaced yours.

My experience proves that murse carry can be extremely secure.

No cell phone? No change? No pen? No hankie?
Nope, lucky enough to not have to carry a cell.
Change maybe, but temporary as it gets dumped in
the cup holder.
No pen, if you need me to sign something you better
have a way to do it.
No hankies, lotions, hair care products....etc....

You've got that reversed. I asked what people carried in their murses. Got some darned good lists -- some good ideas.

Unfortunately some less secure individuals have felt the need to hijack the thread to pronounce their insecurity when it comes to a carry bag.

The terminology is throwing us for a loop. If you would have called it a carry bag from the get go there would be less negative reaction.

Supposed insecurities or not, my first thought when hearing the term "murse" was something feminine. Like it or not, I think many others here had the same reaction. My generation and older certainly didn't grow up with the term because Indy Jones never called that carry bag a murse. It would seem murse supporters are rewriting history a bit to promote the new term.

What else would you expect from a bunch of middle aged and older gun shooting men?

Indy bag....

FWIW;
Dr Jones used a WWII era MoD/UK gas mask bag. ;)
I was curious about that.

PS: 24's Jack Bauer didn't carry a murse, he used a Jack Pack! :D

Satchel. The correct word already exists.

Going out of your way to create a new word that sounds stupid, then accusing people of insecurity when they gawk at it. Real cool. Isn't macho chest thumping grounds for administrative action?

This is only a THR subject in relation to weapons carry -- we aren't a personal accouterments and men's accessories forum -- so perhaps this should just be closed.

Anyone want to talk about the whys and wherefores of carrying weapons in a shoulder bag then? Or is this done?
A few of you tried, but the OP insisted on making this a men's accouterments discussion, so we're done.
