I have tissue packs instead, but TP is deffinitely one of the more important items.

And in response to tampons and pads; If you have a woman in your life, they are a very important thing to have available.

My CERT bag with all of the essentials, courtesy of a grant from the DHS. I always make sure I have some cash on hand and always carry a pistol.

This is mine.

  • 511 'Active Shooter Bag' and Maxpedition backpack.
  • A pistol (my normal carry gun), several spare mags and some extra ammo.
  • A folding long gun, several spare mags and some extra ammo.
  • Multi-tool.
  • Small bolt cutters and an E.O.D. Breacher Bar from County Comm
  • Large folding knife (on me) medium length fixed blade knife in the bag.
  • Medical kit.
  • Flashlight and spare batteries
  • 72 hours worth of food (MRE's) and water.
  • Some 550 Paracord.
  • Screwdriver, allen wrenches, crescent wrenches.
  • Tube tent.
  • Emergency blanket.
  • A Towel.
  • Fire making supplies (a couple lighters and some water proof matches, Swedish Steel, Magnesium block).
  • Mess kit and eating utensils.
  • 'No Rinse' Body Wash.
  • A compass, (I should have a GPS system pretty soon) and a map of the area.
  • Lightweight rain or cold weather gear depending on time of the year.
  • Flight Gloves.
  • Bandanna.
  • A cheap cell phone with add on minutes (I also have my regular one on me).
  • $50 to $150 in cash with some coins for phone calls.
  • Small Pair of Binoculars.
  • Water purification tablets.
  • A sewing kit, spare eyeglasses and an eye glass repair kit.
  • Bug spray, sun block, a baseball hat or a beanie.
  • For the car itself I have : A spare tire, jumper cables, a fire extinguisher, an electric remote start until, duct tape, rope, spare gas, oil, transmission fluid, brake fuid, water, a spare water hose for my model car, spare belt for alternator, tools (like a Phillips screwdriver, flathead screwdriver, channel locks, crescent wrench, tire lug nut star, car jack etc).

So to me, it doesn't look like you have that much stuff. Then again I'm sort of a preparedness freak.

My car is my escape pod.

Read "Listening to Katrina" by Shane S. It is an outstanding prep site.

Anyway, as with any good escape pod, it in itself is a "rally point" for me in case of an emergency.

Up front, I have water, gatorade, hard candy (and some chocolate since it's winter), powerful flashlights (400-950 lumens), gloves, scarf, winter caps, OTC meds, breath strips (gotta have fresh breath), maps, a Spyderco knife, beef jerky, a couple of books, extra rechargeable batteries for flashlights, chargers for phone, flashlight.

In back, I've got a BOB, toolkit, first aid kid, extra clothes, boots, flares, air compressor, jumper cables, oil, anti-freeze, extra headlight insert, tail lights, tow strap, 10# fire extinguisher, Interceptor armor, extra ammo, blanket, coat, metal toolbox with FRS radios, scanner, batteries, LED headlamp, dual band ham HT, freq. books, shave kit with all those goodies, extra towels, batteries, feminine "stuff", inverter, headphones, more batteries, paper towels, G96, and on and on. ETA: Forgot: Mountain House meals x4.

For personal protection tools, I have a M9 with CCW gear for me (to include IWB holster, mag pouches, mags, flashlight & holster, belt, etc.) and a Model 65 with all the similar fixins for the GF. For serious issues, I have an M4gery with more ammunition than most city blocks in my area will have (only seven mags loaded at the moment). And a Mossberg 590 with reduced recoil loads. Enough to control an early outbreak of zombies or a hoard of Deliverance types.

Oh, and if you're ridin' with me for any distance, and especially in right-to-carry states, you're expected to bring your own American Express card(s).

John

- food/water for two people, for two weeks
- full assortment of tools
- full assortment of fluids
- chainsaw, highjacker, come along, shovel
- whool blankets and sleeping bags
- 1,000 watt generator (soon)
- Rossi triple play rifle with ammo supplies (this weekend)
- bug out bag

with that and using the truck for shelter I will stay warm, dry, fed and reasonably happy pretty much anytime anywhere for at least a week.

A Hello Kitty air freshener, two donkeys, a couple sporks, and a dish towel. Unless I had Mexican last night, in which case substitute one of the sporks for a shop-vac, some potpourri, and a squeejee.

After reading the responses, I've decided to add solso cups to my inventory (which before consisted of 1/2 of Jack Daniels). Now I don't have to drink from the bottle!

The Dove

Depends where I'm going. If I'm just going between Provo and Orem, nothing out of the ordinary. (Ordinary being the AR w/ 2 30rnd mags, basic socket set, knife, tow-strap; I drive a big white 4x4 truck, I'm obligated to pull stuck people--jumpers, etc) If I'm driving in a remote area, I'll throw a few blankets in the truck, my big boots, and a shovel.

Jumper cable
First aid kit
Knife
LED cigarette lighter flashlight
tool bag with wrenches

We live in a suburban area so no need for arctic survival gear

Nothing but spare tire and jumpers. Car has already been broken into so no firearms or accesories are kept in it

MH

Shakes head.

Travel tool box (nothing fancy its some socket wrenches and such)
jack
air pump (runs off the lighter)
a wool blanket
a shovel
tire chains
flashlight
coveralls
tarp (because crawling UNDER a vehicle at night is bad enough in coveralls)
gas can
cb radio
matches, lighter
TP
travel map
bungie cords
flares
motor oil
jumper cables
washer fluid
antifreeze

most of that stuff stays in my jeep 24/7/365

I try to remember to toss a can of Dinty Moore in the back and a bottle of water when I road trip. Fact is when I get ready to take a road trip I usually MAKE a new list and see what I have. That usually means beef jerky and a travel mug for coffee and a thermos, extra socks.

As far as guns I have a Kar98k with a winter trigger that will drop a yeti at 300 yards. I don't leave it in the car.

I know it's been mentioned at least once, but...
BIG +1 for the little bottles of 5 or 6 hour energy drinks. Both time's I've had "emergency's" and had to walk from a vehicle I was tired and worn out. Food bar's helped, but you never know when you'll need a little extra energy. I keep two bottles in my truck now. Emergency's never sem to happen when your well rested LOL
