So first let me ask that in this time of pandemic that this thread not get shut down. Heck I will even make it gun related so people don't get their panties in a wad. Our entire nation is under attack by COVID 19 and being in my early 30's I never thought I would see such a thing. I lived with the ammo/22lr shortage but a food shortage is crazy. This is stuff I only read in history books. Visiting some LGS and even larger ones ammo is scarce, gun sales are at a high. One LGS did 89 firearms sales on Friday. People making comments about buying an AR 15 for the first time. I saw a lot more people CCW and open carrying over the weekend too. BTW when you CCW don't try and hide a sig 226 or larger under a t shirt in a Blackhawk type holster. :) I really don't get the whole guns and ammo thing for a virus.

How are things in your state? How's the food? schools shut down? Ohio governor and health dept. announced Thursday that 100,000 people in our state are infected. All Ohio schools will close until early April, no sit down restaurants or bars are allowed to be open, I have visited several Walmart's and other large chain stores and there is absolutely no food. No cereal, meats, etc. Stores are closing early to maintain stock. People fighting over toilet paper at Walmart brought several off duty cops in for security. Now the governor is saying he is closing daycares and there are people lined up for miles wanting free COVID 19 screenings.

In all seriousness lets see how other states are handling this and not shut this thread down because "this is a gun only site" Our country is very weak right now and we need to come together. My friend said she's taking her family to another state for 3 weeks cause of the food shortage. I say bad idea. Just wondering if everyone is the same way as Ohio?

Same here people going crazy, the news is making them crazy. Guess it's only way the get people to watch there crap. My house has not changed, did are biweekly shopping the other day and other then no TP we got all me needed. Hurd the last day of so a lot more things in the stores are missing like meat and milk. People wedding face masks but they proved they do nothing at all.

most people got there taxes back I think that made things worse. In have not gone buy any gun shops tho. During 911 people went crazy buying guns and ammo. My dad's gun shop them sold over 5000 guns that year.

I'm writing this from my desk, managing a small public library on the border with Mexico.
The schools are all closed for at least two weeks. The grocery store next door has a line that goes halfway around the block, but the roads are almost empty.
I haven't seen any open carry so far.
Folks are still coming in to the library to use our computers and study spaces and to make copies or send faxes.
We have cancelled all programming.
Our janitorial staff, all of whom are over 65, are staying home for the next two weeks.
As this is extreme south Texas, where many locals throw used toilet paper on the floor, sanitation is another problem.
We had a gun show this last weekend.
I didn't go.
Crowds, you know.
Anyway, I have all of the guns and ammo that I need for the time being... .

It's not terribly difficult to get people into panic mode between tv news and social media. I think the run on gun stores is just a part of it, though honestly what people think a new gun or supply of ammo will do for them is hard to fathom. If in fact 100k people have this neq variant of a cold virus, it certainly isn't causing a lot of mortality. I think it would be pretty evident if people were suddenly dying everywhere especially with how well people can communicate today. Seems like the general consensus is unless you have emphysema or a compromised immune system the virus will simply be a cough and fever for a few days. Obviously that is dangerous to elderly folks on oxygen or who are otherwise frail and the last thing we want is a healthy kid whose only symptoms are the sniffles to pass this along to someone who cannot handle it.
