I've recently acquired a Ruger Police Service Six, a 4" revolver about the size of a S&W K-frame.

It is blued. It is in pretty darn good condition.

It is also 9mm. It takes moon clips which look like little throwing stars, that "snap" around the rebated rim area of the cartridges, making, for all intents and purposes, a built-in speed loader.

These clips are like Magazines For Revolvers.

So I'm thinking, this is something that is rather uncommon. What's something like this worth?

9mm "Sixes" have seen a pretty dramatic price jump in the last few years in my opinion. While nice .38/.357 specimens draw anywhere from $300 & up, the 9mm's usually start at least $100 higher as folks appear willing to pay the premium for the rarer chambering.

But, most 9mm Sixes are the Speed Six variety, usually in the 2 3/4" barrel length. I would say a square butt Service Six with 4" barrel is probably a more rare example.

Nice gun, congrats!

I looked at 9mm revolvers in a few gun price guide publications at the book store recently. There seems to be a large disparity between what the book says the value is and what I am seeing online and at the gunshow. The books are 100 or more dollars lower than what I am seeing. The books were 2008 editions but still they were low.
