Insurance

Hey there:
I just went thru this myself. The actual value of the gun does not matter. What will it take to replace that gun?
I had to give a list of my guns to the Insurance company. But no ser. numbers.
And I also included a statement that said in writing that they could not give the list to any law enforcement agency with out my written permission.
You need to find the cost of that model with or with out scopes etc. add it all up and that is the cost to replace that gun. If you do not do this they will give you the "used" value of the gun. Full replacement is what you want.
It is not nor would it be fair for me or any one else to place a value on your guns. If the gun can not be replaced, State that on your list. Sentimental value is not valid. I have guns that I paid much less then I could buy them now for. But they are Now insured to be replaced at current cost. I just insured over 20K on my guns and 10 k on other peoples guns that are in my possesion. Ask questions and get answers from the agent. Make them tell you exactly what the deal is. I live in Michigan and the laws may be different, so ask your agent. If they will not give you GOOD answers get a different agent, I did. Oh ,,,, I was required to have them under lock and key. I just ordered a new 45 gun safe.:)

Savage Shooter

What your insurance people want is to know replacement value. A lot of the guns youlist are no longer made. The good news is that the vale on some have gone up recently because of things like Cowboy action shooting. If a gun is still being made and in good value you should be able to convince them that they are worth 75-80% new value as long as they are readily available on the used market. I will give you good guesses.

1) Savage 311's $350-$400 each
2) Marlin 336 $250-$300 or whatever you would pay at walmart
3) Win 9422 $400
4) Marlin60 $100
5) Mossberg 500 $250
6) Ruger bearcat $200
7) Remington 100 $350-$400
8) H &R pardner $75
9) Stevens single shot $150

I don't know about the others. Try www.gunbroker.com and use the search feature for your particular firearm.

I know for a fact that my stevens is worth at least 300 sense it is a 70s made its not wrth as much as the older ones they are worth big bucks my grandfather has one of the old ones.

Gun Values

Hey there:
The gun values you have been shown are probably close. BUTTTTT.
You are insuring them not selling them. The value is what it would take to replace them NOW. Not when you bought them or what you could get for them. The insurance company will use those prices if you allow them to. YOU are insuring your guns. If you do not care that is fine. Maybe they do not have high values. But some guns do. The insurance co. sells insurance. You saw my last post. Dont worry about what they are worth. What will it cost you to buy all new one s if you come home and they are all gone. More then likely you would not buy or even try to replace model for model. I have rifles that can not be purchased over the counter. Those would cost me dearly to replace. One has a scope that the make is no longer in business. It would take a new Night Force to replace it . My insurance guy just told me how it works. The insurance co, will look for a way to not have to pay or not pay current cost of replacement. That would not fly here. Home owners only covers a certian amount on firearms. It would not even touch in my case.
I insured every thing I opwn with this guy and paid up front which landed me a nice discount . The NRA could not even come close to what I just got over 30 K worth of gun insurance for. I put 20 on mine and 10 on any thing (guns ) that are not mine but on my property. I work on some guns too.
I learned a lot about insurance recently and found that I never was covered concerning my guns reloading equipment and such. At around $5000.00 thay wanted my guns and others guns in a safe. I just orderd one that wieghs 750 lbs, with the guns in there it will be over 900 lbs and they didn't think I would need to bolt it down. In case of a fir ethe safe co. will fix or replace the safe free and my insurance will also pay for a new one.

Thanks I figured the replacment values up one my own with help from our friend the internet and got them all done with some help from my dad. comes up to 5500.00 for all of them. Don't know about haveing them locked up don't really have any locked my good ones are over my bed on a gun rack and the rest are in closets around the house. don't really have to worry about buglarers as we live in the country unlike my uncle he lives down in dallas texas and a robber snuck into his house one night and shot him straight in the head and he lived doctor said it was a merical he does have a slower speech now but other than that hes all right.

Wow!

Hey there:
I live way out in the sticks down a dead end road, at the end. The police even have a hard time finding me. We need to rely on us. Not all of my guns are locked up. As I said I carry and have for a long time now. I carry a Kimber Ultra Carry .45. I keep a .357 mag Colt full sized in the house for Mother. And a shotgun handy. They are up where the grandkids can't get to them YET. But The woods has become drug country. And it is close to home.
Meth labs are everywhere. These idiots are desperate. And the cops seem to wait till things are over before they show up. I took my stand years ago and so far the drug crow has left me alone. They know that I can shoot. A few have actually got to see a gun or 2 of mine. Hole first. They have not been back. Word is they told their buddys to stay away . I let the last bunch know that if I had any problems I was going to go hunting. For them.... Have not had a problem since. The last officer involved told them that he would take his badge off and help me if he had to. He went to school with my wife. Life has been pretty good since. I caught one in my house years ago and had a .44 mag Ruger Hammer back pointed at his face. He just about passed out. He did hyperventilate. He shouldn't be back . He did go to jail. I thank God every day that I did not kill him. He was one of my neighbors kids that grew up with long hair and I did not reconize him.

We don't have anything like that around here yet. I almost always carry a gun outside because wenever I am outside I am all most always am hunting. I no everbody in my area and if some one was for exaple tresspassing I can almost always tell you who it was just by their tire pattern and for people going by the house I can tell who it is most of the time by the sound of their exaust. Us country folk stick toghether all neighbors watch out for each other.
