Will they bring back the Winchester 9422 or 9422M? I had one a long time ago and it was an XTR with the checkering. I have been hankering for another one because it was an awesome rifle. Do you think we will see any more of these? There are some used ones for sale here and there but it would be cool to see a new US made XTR.

I have the checkered 9422 and yes, it is a very nice rifle and I would not part with it.
Right now the Winchester 94 design is being made by Mossberg, I believe as a "464" of something -- not sure of the designation. It's a close but not exact copt of the original Browning design. A Japanese company called Miroku has made some great copies of the 1886 and 1892 models and I think may be still doing so.
IF you want a GOOD 9422 hope Miroku picks it up, not Rossi.
However, realistically I don't think it's going to happen. First the Winchester name really only holds on as a familiar brand to stamp on knives, cleaning equipment and other similar things.
Henry has some fine lever 22s and Browning and Marlin from what I know have the market.
I frankly don't think the market is there. People seem happy enough with what is there so I just don't think it's gonna happen.

I have a few of the 9422's also and would love to see them make a comeback, but I don't think it's going to happen. I wouldn't mind seeing them made alongside the new Model 70's at the FN plant in Columbia, SC. I just bought one of their Super Grades in .30-06 and it is a magnificent piece of work. If they could put out some 94's or 9422's to the same standard I'd buy one in a heartbeat. Providing, of course, that they didn't have that ridiculous tang safety.

I picked up this used 94/22 WMR last summer. I believe it was made in 1975. I put the Weaver scope on it to try it out and was amazed at the rifle's accuracy. I was left wondering why it took me so long to get a rifle in .22 mag. This one is definitely a keeper.

They are great rifles and I'm very glad I got my 'set' while they were still in production and not too cost-prohibitive. Don't know if they ever come back.

Miroku is a Japanese manufacturer who USRAC (and Browning) has contracted to produce vintage levergun designs as well as single shots and others. The original Browning `92's, 53's, 65's and `86's (and others) were true to the originals and of superb quality. The later model Winchesters are every bit as good but feature tang safeties and rebounding hammers. In the last few years they have produced levers of the 1892, 1886, 1895 and most recently, the 1894 design. They are not what anyone would call "cheap" and you certainly won't find them on the used gun rack of a pawn shop for $300 but they are very, very good guns and of higher quality than most anything produced domestically in over 50yrs. New 1894 variants have been introduced for 2011 and hopefully more will follow. With any luck, new 94/22's will once again see the light of day. I'd love to see a 24" octagon version.

I sure do hate to see scopes on 9422's, but a lot of people do it.

I agree that levers look better without scopes, but the stock sights are pretty useless when trying to determine the capabilities of the rifle. The scope on this particular rifle was a temporary arrangement. However, when the time comes that I have to decide between using scopes or not hitting my target, then I'll certainly mount it back up without hesitation.

agreed

If Winchester brought back a decent 9422, I would get another, probably a WMR but maybe a standard. I like my 9422 a lot and shoot it often.
