I see Charles Daly attached to various models of handguns - is this a customizing shop? Distributor? What 'value added' does Charles Daly add?

And while I'm at it, I'll mention that I was shown a CD 1911 at a gun shop some time ago - looked and felt OK and for this particular shop the price wasn't too outragous... I was (easily) able to resist, given that I have a Colt 1911A1 in my gun safe... you know the routine - it's OK to admire all the pretty girls, but go home to the one that laughs at all your jokes...

I'm pretty sure that they are an importer.
The CD Hi-power might be made in the US but the 1911s are for Armscor and Bul

I guess the value add is getting them into the USA, and selling them :)

Are Charles Daly guns generally of acceptable quality and price-point?

And another thing... (I feel like Lt. Columbo) I presume Dan Wesson is the same kind of deal?

Dan Wesson is made in the USA with USA parts, and they used to assemble the CD Highpowers.

Don't know what happened after the DW/CZ merger.

I just purchased a CD 1911 in stainless. For the price, I think it offers a LOT. It was made in the Phillipines but has a decent reputation. The CD name has been around for quite some time, or so I've been told. I also had someone tell me they were bought out by CZ?? And plan to move production to the US?

My particular 1911 is the 2nd from the "top" of their offering list. Charles Daly Target 5inch barrel. Lots of features. SS, target sights, beavertail grip, 8 round mag etc. Heavy, felt great in my hands.

The guys in the gun store spoke highly of them and kept talking about how much they offer for the price. Retail was $720ish, I paid $575. Lifetime Warranty.

And, they are hard to find. So, the relativley few guns they make are pretty popular.

I'll let everybody know how it shoots! (because everybody should know, I shoot fine. Any misses wiil clearly be the responsibility of the new gun ;) )

Charles Daly

Charles Daly (the name) has been around longer than I have. They were once well known for fine shotguns. I think they have sold several times though. I had one of their hi-powers. It was a nice, well-made pistol. Said made in U.S.A. on the side. Just couldn't get it to feed .45 ammo.

K.B.I. are the importers, charles daly is just the name that is added. K.B.I in the past has imported makarovs, FEG hipower copies and walther 380 copies. Mark
