Was out prowling the Pawn shops today. Saw alot of pistols that have just come out on the shelf. Saw a FN that looks like a Browning 1910, $260. A Charles Daly 45acp $260. A Springfield 9mm? looks like a commander? <$300. A Ruger 9mm single action? I will probably put at least one of these in layaway but not sure which one? I really liked the way the Charles Daly fit my hand, but around here, no one really knows about any Daly pistols. They all seem to be good values, any suggestions? Favorites?

The Charles Daly should be of Filipino origin. The more Mil-Spec it is, the more I would trust it. Out of the three, it would interest me the most.

Got two

I've got two Charles Daly 1911's, never had so much as a hiccup from either one. Not bad for the price and "philipino beer cans" as one poster here likes to call them. Accuracy is fine, too. I can keep them in the black at 25 yd, I;m sure them opening up a bit at quick fire is shooter, not pistol.

Use the search, I've posted threads about my Daly EMS and CS.

Got well over 6000 rounds thru my EMS with only a few minor problems, Daly's warrenty service delivered as promised.

My CS has been perfect in function out of the box for over 600 rounds. It did shoot low until I filed the front sight a bit.

I paid $390 for the EMS and $343 for the CS, both new.

The CD 1911s are made by Armscor, if you buy a CD KBI in Harrisiburg, PA. handles the warrenty (don't think it applies to a used gun). IF you buy an Armscor the Warrenty is handled by Armscor in Pahrump, NV.

1911forum.com has a Charles Daly board.

The Daly is not a 1911 but a Daly Double Action (DDA) 45. They were discontinued by Daly, but I don't know if it was a poor performer or just a poor seller.

I have the Daly DDA. It is a very good gun, accurate and reliable. They are made in Isreal. The biggest problem you will find with the DDA is going to be finding spare mags which are darn near impossible to get. I think the internals are the same as the polymer witness pistols also. Mark

The idea of getting all four didn't actually occur to me. (At the moment I am still happily married! although my wife is beginning to roll her eyes at my purchases) Is the old FN Browning worth the trouble? It looks like a cool purchase and I like the size, but will it handle modern ammo?
