What am I missing, do I need to make one?

It seems like one more thing to carry around and wear through my pocket or, is it a gotta have, stupid to leave home without, piece of kit?

That's all a bit hyperbolic so an answer is gonna be difficult.

is it a gotta have, stupid to leave home without, piece of kit?

No, of course not. The only thing that is stupid to leave home without is a decent small knife.

That said, I have a "Prybaby" on my keyring set and have found it the be pretty handy a few times, but I'd have done well enough without it.

I have a Prybaby XL on my keyring. I rarely use it, but when I do, I'm glad that I have it. It's nice to have around when I'm doing something that would make me briefly consider prying with my knife's blade tip.

Oh yeah, and the bottle opener works well.

Is it necessary? No.
Do I kind of like it? Yes.

Thanks for the straight up answers guys. My problem is that I am a sucker for this kind of stuff but worry sometimes that I am falling into this trap -

Bwagahahahahaa

Sorry.

One can never have too many nifty tools. I have another hobby that threatens to become a black hole of spending on precision stuff. Fortunatley the gravity well is not affecting me yet.

RM,

I've been accused of that problem. I also tell folks, "If ya'll carried all the junk you talk about you'd drown if you ever fell into water more than 6 ft. deep!".

I have used my Atwood Prybaby to pry open a malfunctioning fire alarm box that was going off at midnight. This allowed me to turn off the false alarm instead of paying for an $400 emergency service call from the alarm company. That was well worth it and saved my ears as well.

I keep my Prybaby in my notebook bag and I've bought 5 of those mini prybars from countycomm.com to stash everywhere. I plan to get another 5 because I keep thinking of more places to stash them, and at $5 each, I don't care if they get damaged or lost.

I do find them quite useful.

i've never used one, but my Leatherman covers all my prying, chiseling, twisting, and plier-ing needs... never said, "gee, i wish i had a mini-crobar!"

that said, if you carry one, all the power to you. i love carrying stuff on my belt.

tmm

I wish I had another couple of these.

I kept one in the truck, one in my backpack for college, shaving kit for travel, first aid kit, briefcase...etc.

I recommend one in the vehicle and emergency kit for sure.

See in the old days, everyone kept a can/bottle opener handy (aka "church key") as we did not have pull tabs on cans of soda, beer, and bottles had lift off caps.

The old "church keys" were well made, made in the USA, ...
Besides opening a can of paint, can of motor oil, one could remove a windshield , get the vent window open then open a car door, after some kid, or dawg, had locked them selves in a vehicle.

Or a mom at the park with her kids could rip from elbow towards hand when that "bad man" would not leave them alone at the swings.
(that there is known as a "clew")

Progress come to be, and pull top cans and bottles got screw off caps.
Arthritis is still around, despite "progress".

That "church key" will allow arthritic hands to lift a pull tab. If all a lady needs to open is a can of Chicken Broth, often times using the can opener to punch a big "triangle" and one small "vent triangle" is still better.
She can pour just what she needs, and "less risk to injury" by not having to deal with sharp edges of lid removed or inside edge of can.

If you want to make someone happy with Arthritis, get them a Pry Baby.
Hey, they might give you a old good old fashioned "church key" in return.

Progress- sometimes I wonder if we are progressing forward or backwards...

from countycomm.com

Just stick a shop vac hose in your wallet. It's cheaper.

Yeah if countrrycomm was smart, they would offer payroll direct deposit.
One option would be sending the depositor each pay period something from the alphabet.

"P" : Prybar, Peanut Lighter, P-38...

I am not sure what falls under the letter "Q", still I bet CC has something, and looking forward to payday could take on a whole new meaning.

*yep*

Now i got to get something else

Hi,
I help real good.
May I suggest a Victorinox Soldier, Vic onyx translucent Classic SD, for sure.
Now get a Alox Bantam and EDC the Bantam and Classic SD.

Soldier is for when you are going to be out and about for sure and emergency use.

Get the cable key rings from country comm, and put on that orange key ring light, P-38, pry bar and fire steel.

Your are welcome. If you need anything else , just holler.

Oh, wait. St Patricks day is near.
You need some green Classic SDs with the Shamrocks for the girls.
We don't want the little ladies getting pinched because they are not wearing green.

*smile*

I handled one of these and found the exacto tough and dangerous to open. I did like everything else though...

I am a sucker for Atwood's stuff, functional or not. :)

:D

And that is the reason for finding the old "church keys" in estate and yard sales.

*blink*

Software not Hardware.

Sometimes thinking out of the box is a good thing, and sometimes the old and antiquated is far superior to the new and fangled.

*yep"

Just a stupid can opener offiser, it makes it easier for my arthritic hands to get a pull tab up so my grand child can have juice.

*ahem*

The artifact looks interesting, especially for under $7, but will it actually pry and will the screw drivers hold up without breaking?

Looks like I'm going to have to get one and stack it against my much more expensive Prybaby.

I have crow bars and pry bars is all sorts of sizes from 6 feet long to a few inches.. I move logs and do carpentry work, so I have needs to pop paint cans and can move about anything with that 6 foot bar.

The one bar I don't have is a fubar, but i sent a work crew member hunting once for 3 days.... I guess his cousin had on, but had misplaced it.... :D

fubar?

Ohhhh, those chinese things. They tend to screw up too quick for me. Waste of money.

Well...

They do come in handy for emergencies, and having them in vehicles, emergency kits, first aid kits, at the office is a good idea.

Don't forget those with Arthritis and other physical limits.
Oh, and there is nothing wrong for accepting homemade cookies by a sweet little old lady that wants to do something for you in return for being soooo thoughtful.

I recommend the Chocolate Chip and those cookies they stick a mini Reece's Butter cup in.

*yummy*

Hey, the homemade cookie bit should be reason alone for "whats the deal with mini pry bars?".

*cookie crumb mustache grin*
