Poll TIME!!!

What's the longest length of time that you haven't shot your gun?

Because of the economy and trying to count all my pennies, it has been almost 6 months that I haven't taken a range trip to shoot my guns.

So wondering if this has affected anyone here at THR and if the economy, or other factors, play a major role in the sport/hobby/lifestyle?

The most I've had is probably 2 or 3 months, and that was only one time. I usually get out to shoot something at least once a month.

Maybe a month or two during the winter.

I don't care for freezing my butt off, and since my range is my back yard... well... *shrug*

Still, even for that, I'll sneak out and fire a mag or two... or empty the 1858... the first time it crosses my mind. But the protracted shooting sessions are almost always saved for the warmer months.

P.S. Sorry, but I didn't hit the poll, since my answer wasn't an option.

I've shot pretty regularly since I was in college. I didn't shoot for a while when I was living in Apartheid Chicago, and again when I lived out in NW Ohio. I've been shooting regularly since I moved back to the Cleveland area, except for the past few months, when health issues kept me at home. I'll probably start shooting regularly again next week.

havent been in about two months. Can't find a range that allows long guns. But then again, I haven't tried calling, and am just going by their websites. Hopefully my local range opens back up soon.

It's been 2 or 3 weeks. I got really busy at work and then with family and for the past week it's been 100 degrees everyday.

The longest I ever went was from birth to age 4 or 5.

Other than that, probably the 4 or 5 months last year when I was keeping house for my parents, moving them to assisted living and nursing care (and then switching them due to health changes), cleaning out their house after 63 years of marriage and then selling it. Meanwhile, my mother broke her hip, my father needed back surgery and then thyroid surgery and something else happened, but I don't recollect what right this minute. I know I used up over 10 weeks of paid vacation and didn't take a vacation.

I go through withdrawls everytime I deploy to the sandbox. I'm at a location that keeps me from getting issued a weapon. I can help the armorer clean 'em.. but thats as close to shooting as I get while deployed. It's just horrible...

when i was younger i may go a year with out shooting . but since i got my own gear, 2 months while im at school. normaly i will go 2 months of classes, have some kind of vacation or holiday that i come home fore, go shooting, then go back to school for another 2 months

about 15 years, from 1987 to 2002 :(

Coincides with a time in my life when I was busy raising kids. When my oldest (daughter) decided to live in Israel and asked me to teach her to shoot - the hobby of my youth was revived, and I started right up. :)

In my new tax tax bracket, I went from one gun (a 1911 owned since '79) to about 30 in about 2 years:D, before my wife figured out what was going on and laid down the law.:p

Went for a year after discovering I had cataracts to recovering from two surgeries. Had wondered why I had turned into such a poor shot until I figured that I was shooting right handed, but compensating for the cataract in my right eye by unconciously aiming with my left eye.

If any of you ever get in the same boat, don't be scared of the surgery. It was the best thing I ever did. Up to that point I had worn glasses or contacts from when I was about 10 to only needing reading glasses today. :)

If you don't count 1975-2005 (the time between my birth and the first time I ever shot a gun, ever), it's been a few months since the last time I was out. I've been too busy, and there are too many other things to spend money on.

Geez. It has been quite a while. Hopefully the range I frequent will have gotten their modifications completed by the time I head out again. I've got some vacation time coming up and I really want to give my .22-250 a workout. Also, finally wring out my 1911.
Everything is money money now.

Only been a couple of weeks but based on the shooting statistics I keep, I'm shooting 80% less than I did last year.

About 8mos since I go to school in another country I try to at least take the .22out whenever I'm home

Because of sugery ,it has been 3 months.
I am really wanting to shoot !!!!! doctor says not a good idea for another 3 or 4 months.

The truth of the matter is... I don't shoot a lot. It's not my choice! If I had my way, I'd be shooting every day, all the time!
No... see, I was diagnosed with depression when I was ten, so my parents won't let the guns anywhere near me. Plus they "promised the school" that no guns would be in the house after a fiasco with a knife.
Right. So now I sound like Eric Harris...
Anyway, I haven't been shooting since my 17th birthday, when I shot my Mossy on our property. That was November 3, 2007.
So, technically, I do know when last I shot, but it feels like forever. I've basically been in remission since.

I've gone close to or over a year due to living overseas at times. I've known people who liked guns but that were sick go 2 years.

I know a gunshop owner who didn't go for 5 years!

I only go about every 2-3 months now due to finances/ammo costs.

I've only shot for pleasure like 2 times in the last 3 years. I only go to the range now usually to function test new guns I buy. I have bought like 7 guns at once before though so it can take some time once I get to a range.

I have spent 1 1/2 years in baghdad at camp victory, they do not let contractors have fun.
