So whats the nicest Mosin Nagant stock you have ever seen?
I humbly submit my two Mosins, a 1927 91/30 Tula Dragoon Conversion and a 1944 Izzy M44. They are both all matching numbers and the M44 is counter-bored, but you would never know when you shoot it.
Of course I had to refinish them. The shiny shellac just didn't do it for me. So I stripped them, did some light sanding where it was needed and then applied several coats of Tru-oil with a buffing of 0000 steel wool between coats. I think I put about 5 coats on each one. I then buffed the final coat down to a low satin sheen.
I am really happy with them. They don't look new at all, they look used and rugged and have tons of character.
The pictures of course don't do them justice.
And Lastly, one with no flash, that shows their color and finish better.
