Don't have an SKS, or any other Kalishnikov, but here is what works for me with my Mosin-Nagant M-44 & strippers:

This isn't meant as a flame or personal attack, but as a bit of education, so please take it that way.

The SKS is not a Kalashnikov, it was designed by Simonov. Granted, they were developed at about the same time, and around the same M1943 round, but, they aren't the same weapon nor designed by the same firm.

No flame taken...

what I wanted to say was that I don't own an SKS or any of the Kalishnikov series...

Sheeeeeesssshh...wish i could get my fingers to work half-fast like my brain....:D

I shot my SKS today and tried the way you guys said. I put my thumb against the stripper clip and as I pushed down I used the pinky of my left hand to lift up on the tip of the top few shells. They went in real smooth. Thanks from me also!

with most of these devices, rubbing the inside surfaces with a pencil can help to smooth things up if you have nothing better around at the time.

They are also a great way to carry spare pistol rounds. NATO style .308 strippers hold 5 rounds of .45 securely, .223's will hold 10 rds of .380 or 9mm. Easy way to keep them from floppping loose in the pocket if you don't want/have spare magazines.
