I placed an order for a SKS. Anyone have a recent updated list of what good deals on 7.62x39 ammo on stripper clips? Samco has 1120 Yugo rounds on stripper clips for $256. Ammunitiontogo.com has 100 Chinese rounds on stripper clips for $95.00. Ok, big difference. Just wanted to see if there was anywhere cheaper besides Samco and what country brand is good just for plinking around on the farm?

199 bucks shipped, 1000 rounds.

No stripper clips, so it's not exactly what you were looking for... but stripper clips are cheap.

Samco has good stuff, but their shipping is very slow and their S&H charges are unreasonably high in many cases. Also, it's near impossible to talk with them on the phone due to the people they have manning them!

I've been using the Yugo from Samco:

1) It's pretty darn accurate.
2) It's fairly clean burning.
3) It's corrosive as all hell.

On a bright sunny day I had finished shooting one AK and was zeroing another. By the time I got back to the first one, there was little rust spots on the muzzle where the chrome doesn't cover. Humidity wasn't real high, probably about 40% or so.

I now clean the AKs with Ballistol diluted with water at the range. After applying straight Ballistol I can leave them sit for a day of so before cleaning again to get any remaining corrosive salt off. I check the rifle after a couple more days for any rust spots.

The Yugo is pretty good ammo but it's a pain to deal with.

Ammunitiontogo.com has 100 Chinese rounds on stripper clips for $95.00.

This stuff is scarce now, as it is steel core and no longer allowed to be imported (not TRUE armor piercing ammo, but said to punch mild steel a little better). When it was flowing in it sold for like a dime (or less) a round.

I was going to point you to AIM as I like their service--but it looks like they're out of wolf.

Lately .20 per round has been the 'good' price point for plinking ammo in 7.62 x 39 SVT--just scanning today it seems like we're seeing a 'jump' to closer to the .23 per range + shipping.

I just bought a SKS unissued with matching numbers from Samco...hopefully the deal will go smoothly....the person I talked to yesterday is non-native for sure, maybe that's why the big communication problem some folks have reported.

Just a random thought, which I hope is helpful...

There is actually 7.62x39 on stripper clips for the vz-58 rifle, and these will not work on an SKS. (I assume they don't work, since the SKS stripper clips will not fit the guide in the vz-58.) I would imagine that any Czech or Slovak ammunition on stripper clips is really for the vz-58.

the Yugo M67 from samco global can be ordered on stripper clips for about a penny a round more. Its my favorite 7.62x39, It's the most accurate, most consistant, best construction and materials (all copper brass and lead, no steel jackets or cases), and it comes in air tight zinc lined sealed wooden crates. The corrosive deal is nothing special or new to me, with every bit of 7.62x54r, 8mm Mauser, 5.45x39,7.62x45 and most all of my 7.62x39 being corrosive. I just clean with hoppes #9 and nothing else and have never had any rust on anything of mine. I dont store for years at the time though, everything gets shot and recleaned at least every few months and stored indoors. i clean with hoppes when i get home from the range and have never seen any rust unless i didnt feal like cleaning a gas tube till the next time i went shooting a few days later, then i have seen gas tubes with red fuzz starting to show.

correction: i get the Yugo7.62x39 for 21.9 cents/round on strippers, 19.9 cents/round loose in the 15 round paper boxes.

Samco customer service sucks ****. If my local gunshop was selling a Yugo for $400, I would had bought it from them. They don't speak English very well (and don't understand it as well) and the 2 phone numbers hardly ever get answered.

yeah, samco took like almost two weeks to ship my chunk of 7.62x39 i ordered from them, this new website they have is a godsend so you dont have to (try) and speak with someone. They are in downtown Miami and i think most of their help is a little on the hispanic side.

:what:
Holy crap of the Simonov and AK Gods. I have 1040 rounds of that stuff. One tin of it is unopened. Traded a Mosin Nagant for a 1100 round case of it in 05. :what: Should of bought the other 3 cases he had for a 100 dollars each. Should I put it on gunbroker? If i could sell it all for what they want I could buy 4500 rounds of Golden Tiger or be almost on my way to an M1A.

Very accurate ammo and good stripper clips too I might add.
