What's the real issue with the 770?

There are a few Remington 770's for sale in my area. I don't want to buy another rifle right now but whenever I google "Remington 770" I get the same response:

It's junk!

Looking deeper there is one major complaint that always sticks out:

"The action is horrible".

That's what it always boils down to. People do not like the action. Someone complains about accuracy and a page or two later someone else steps in an corrects that whiner.

So, do I have it right that the only real complaint about the 770 is it has a bad feeling action?

I've never owned one, but my nephew has one in 7 mag and it just feels like a toy when you pick it up. The trigger guard is also plastic, and I hate that. With the other options out there such as the Marlin xl7 and Mossburg ATR, I see no need to buy a 770. That's just my opinion. You should not let others' opinions determine whether or not you buy something. If they have facts, then fine listen to them. But if it's just an opinion, take it for what it's worth and decide if you agree. If you don't, then get it. Nothing wrong with that.

It is the worst rifle ever made. They use cheap components and poor manufacturing practices. The stock has integral sling studs which break very often, due to the fact that the stock is of the cheapest plastic. The action appears to be cut from a piece of steel tubing and I have seen bolts that you had to slap open to get them to eject a cartridge. I have seen 770's that would not chamber a cartridge. They give you a $29 scope to make it look like a deal, the scope is useless over 4x magnification. For the money you'd spend on one you could by a Weatherby Vanguard, Howa 1500, and for $50 more a Tikka T3 Lite. So basically buying a 770 is showing the world you have no common sense.
