So, whats the verdict on the Glock 42? Is it Glock reliable? I'm in the market for a pocket gun and the super tiny auto's dont do it for me (P3AT, LCP, etc). The G42 feels like a larger gun but in a comfortably pocketable size, which is something I was impressed by. So whats the scoop?:)

Glockers....

The 42 .380acp has been out for awhile now. It seems to sell very well in most US areas. New holsters & after market parts like www.GlockStore.com are now showing up for Glock 42 .380acp pistols so it seems like the US shooting sports/CCW license holders like it.

I may buy one later on but I have a long list of guns Id buy first.

I shot one yesterday, in fact. I fell in love with it, and think it's a great value in carry pistol. Soft recoil with standard ammo. Very accurate, and never hiccupped.
It feels good in the hand, is well balanced, and an excellent size. I'm a long-time fan of the S&W Shield 9, but would trade mine for a G42 pretty quickly. I think it's hands down superior to KelTek P3AT, Ruger LCP, and Taurus TCP, but it does cost a bit more. I've seen them for $389 at gun shows, so I expect to find one fairly soon for $350-360.

I've seen a comment or two on line, concerning failure to feed, and like lots of new inexpensive pistols, I think some of them might need a bit of polishing, or "break in" period. But most seem to run very well, and are a super value.

I love my Glock 42! It is extremely "shootable." Since I can't always conceal my G26, the 42 is the perfect solution, for me anyway. And, it's fun to practice with whereas I hated shooting my son's LCP and the Beretta Nano that I tried.

I love my, er my wife's, G42. There have been issues with premature slide lock back, due mainly to the very small clearance between the slide stop follower tab and the nose of the next round coming up in the magazine.

Mine, or my wife's, has all of the latest updates out of the box and has been flawless.

I love hearing these things because on paper, a nearly 9mm size .380 doesnt make sense but when I put it in my hand and dry fired it today, I instantly wanted one. It felt just big enough to aim and just small enough to conceal.

I liked mine so much I purchased a second one. Have not had a single failure with either and am going to have night sites put on one next week.

I bought a used Glock 42, got it dirt cheap, barely appeared to have been fired much.. I've been shooting/carrying a little Kahr CW380 for a while now and found that I do like the tiny micro pocket 380 better.

That said the 42 is a soft shooter, and though I only put 75 rounds through it (mix of FMJ and JHP) have not had a malfunction.

I believe there were a couple of revisions made to the model 42 already...do a quick google search for Glock 42 changes..

Not too big to pocket carry and not too small to get a comfortable grip on it. Shorter trigger pull than the DA mini-pistols. Very reliable. I really like mine.

Not to big or small to justify carrying it rather than a 9mm, IMO. What's the point other than the usual answer "because I can".

My 42 works great but I have not shot a lot of rounds downrange. Kahr P380 seems to have a slightly better trigger pull and definitely more accurate.

I've shot mine about 200 times and had one slide lock back but it was my thumb hitting the slide lock, i have grip it a little different due to the size to keep my thumb down, other than that i like the pistol.

The G42 is my Wife's "Go To" CCL pistol and she loves the dang thing. I have shot it and like it very much as well - not much not to love but I hear it can be finicky with some ammunition. We have not shot every ammo we could find but it has never missed a lick with in our hands.

We feed ours hand loads exclusively and hot ones at that developed for it. The only bad thing I have to say about it is that I need to be careful I don't actuate the slide stop accidentally. The gun is small enough to be easily carried and concealed and big enough to use the sights if you need that.

Really excellent pistol IMO and possibly the best .380 out there for most shooters.

VooDoo

I owned one for awhile. Functioned fine when I remembered not to thumb the slide release. I loaded hot 90 XTP rounds for it too. I kept wishing it was 9mm and eventually traded it for a Glock 17.

Great gun, perfect backup for a LEO. I think it's the perfect size for the snappy 380 load, the problem for me is I don't carry a 380, unless it's strictly my backup gun.
So because I normally don't carry a backup gun, I don't have one.
If you wish to carry a 380 as a primary weapon, it would be a perfect choice for you, along with 2 spare mags, it would make a nice package.
Also a nice leather half holster and twin mag holder, from Galco or one of the better holster company's for OWB carry.
Just my opinion

I have two. Both were 100% out of the box with factory, my reloads were a tad light, and needed a little boost.

Once I got the load beefed up to work in the Glocks, they have both been 100%. One has about 1500 rounds through it now, the other 500 or so.

They shoot much softer than the blow back guns. The reloads I was initially using were for my SIG P230 and LCP, which cycle those guns briskly, wouldnt reliably cycle the 42. Those loads out of those guns, have more felt recoil, than the 42's, with the beefed up loads. With the 42's loads now the default for all of them, they are even snappier now.

Accuracy wise, the 42's "real" sights, make a big difference as the distances open, and the 42's shoot very much like the larger Glocks, out to the same distances.

This was shot at 10 yards, sighting one of them in. Each "group" has multiple mags in it......

I will agree with the above posts. Very positive experiences for me with the 42. Nothing really negative to say. I believe it somehow found a way to set itself apart within a crowded market.

I also have a sneaking suspicion that Glock may have actually test fired the 42 with live ammo before releasing it, unlike Remington and their R51.

Lovers are going to love; haters are going to hate.
We got ours; all three have been great.

I have owned the G42 since shortly after their release

And it has become my EDC. To me it offers the best combination of weight, size, ergonomics, and accuracy. I pocket carry in a Remora holster. I have a number of small 9mm pistols (PM9, Nano, Solo), but find myself relying upon the G42 for the reasons stated above.

I tried the G42, and it seemed for my hands, the gun has a slight counter clockwise twist when fired, which tells me its kinda small for my hands.

I wear a medium large golf glove for comparison.

I tried the Sig p238 and it is a very good fit and shoots real good, for me.

Take a look at it.

Be safe.

Well, after all the positive feedback for the sub-baby Glock, I'll be buying one as soon as I can find it for a decent deal. Right now they are hovering around $490 OTD here in WA gunshops.

Sounds a little high. I paid $419 for mine.

Glockmiester has them for $399

I paid $450 out the door here over the past summer.

From what Ive been told, if youre a member of the GSSF, they are in the $350 range.
