What's up with CDNN's catalog?

I saw CDNN posted a new catalog recently. I have a couple of issues:

1) What happened to 2007-4? They jumped from 3 to 5.

2) Why is it so freakin' huge? One of the advantages of Adobe is smaller files...they just keep getting bigger and bigger. In fact, this one was 20% larger (file size) than the last one.

And my biggest complaint...

3) What's with the lack of prices? Every handgun was listed as "CALL". They already make gun shopping more difficult than any other on-line retailer and now this? I wonder how many sales they are going to lose because there's nothing to entice people? Show me a good price and I'm interested....make me guess and you're a lot less likely to get my business.

On the bright side, at least they've put the handguns back into the electronic version of the catalog.
 
I always assume that no price means either that it is free or overpriced. Guess which I get told when I ask storekeeper about this. :neener:

They put the handguns back in there? I requested a print catalog about a month ago, and it still hasn't come :(

I've had to call them 3-4 times in the last week to ask about prices.
 
I was wondering the same thing, but as was already said, at least they're in there again. And usually in my experience with some other companies, when you have to call the prices are usually pretty good.

The only thing that kind of sucks about it is that you have to either know what you're looking for, or get a price from another website to see if what you're looking at is even in your price range. Makes "shopping" a lot more difficult. :(
 
everybody do this, its a toll free call to you, meaning they are paying 50 cents or more for each call, so call and ask how much is a 5906 S&W, then say thank you, hand up and call back, ask how much is a glock 17, then the same for a sig, then for a walther, then say" I would not have to be calling so often ifyou put the prices back in the catalog.

I am pretty sure they were getting yelled at by some wholesalers and manufacturers by putting the cost of handguns right out there in the public. these dealers who try to tell you Cost is 100 dollars more than CDNN is willing to sell for just hate them.
 
When did they not list handguns? I have every catalog electronically except 2007-2 (I was deployed) and they all include handguns and prices.

Shame on CDNN if they bowed to industry pressure. They have a good business, they are aggressive and they take some risks. If the rest of the industry doesn't keep up, that's they're problem - not CDNN's.

It's a personal thing, but I don't have the inclination to call them up every time I'm curious about a gun. I want instant gratification - which means I'll go to other online places like Bud's. I just think that they're going to cut into their own business. If they think putting "CALL" is going to get people intrigued and boost sales, I think they'll be surprised.

Just my $0.02...

I too dislike the "Call" price. CDNN has really good prices, but they need to post them. The catalog just got about 85% less interesting to look at.
 
to appease the dealers

I agree with the previous comment that CDNN is not putting the prices in their ads in an attempt to appease the dealers who are complaining about individuals buying directly from CDNN. The dealers would rather have you buy a gun from them with a $100 markup than only get a $20 transfer fee. Making you call to check on a price will discourage a certain percentage of people.

A bunch of buddies and I were trying to order the Steyr's from CDNN several months ago. We couldn't find an FFL who would transfer for less than a forty dollar per gun transfer fee!

That's why we are starting our own shop. Should have our license this week. Twenty dollar transfers. And we'll work with you to find the best price. We're not going to hold an inventory so everything is order only. It's going to allow us to keep our costs low.

It does make the catalog less interesting to look at. Because with my wish list they don't want to tell me prices on every handgun I want to look at! :neener:
 
Okay...

So today I get my paper copy of the catalog -- and all the pistol prices are there. Now I think I'm twice as disappointed! :fire:

Wow, you guys sure demand a lot.

They pull their handguns from the ads, you guys get mad.

They put the handguns back in the ads but simply request you call for prices, you guys get mad.

If you're in the market for the gun they're selling, then what's the problem with calling to ask for the price? If you don't want to buy the gun, then don't worry about it.
