What's your arsenal's "sporting purpose" rating?

I'm guessing that I'd be a 4-5.

Low rater:
AR-15, two uppers. One's a varmit upper though.

Mid:
SKS, 12 gauge 1187 w/extension. 1911, CZ40, CZ75BD

High:
Marlin 30-30, .300WBY, single shot 20 gauge, ruger 10/22, .357

Anything that I would own MUST be a 10 on the "sporting clause", as any firearm I would own MUST BE FUN to shoot, and beable to hit paper @ 15 yards

????

I practice until I am proficient with my hunting rifles and shotguns. Then I shoot for practice a month or so before the applicable hunting season. These firearms usually stay in the safe the rest of the time.

It's my self defense pistols, Uzi, riot shotguns, and EBR's that I shoot most of the time. Believe me, it's fun.

This is more confusing than the points system or the ten parts rule. I have no idea what my rating is.

I have 2 compact 1911s, 2.5 fullsize, plus one widebody. Non-1911 pistols are a Glock 17, Taurus M85, and a Kahr PM9.

As for longarms, I have two thompson 1927s, a 20" Mossberg 590, and a ruger 10-22, of course its been eviled up with a BC folding stock. Also have an evil AR15, currently on consignment, even though its not currently in my possesion, I still own it, so does it count?

I'm guessing a 3 to 4 (probably 3.5) for having only a mousegun (read as: nice saturday night special) - what's a kel-tec's rating?

I need a better mathematical formula here. There's no way I'm going to figure it out this way. What's a Beretta Onyx plus a Browning Citori minus a Colt Lightning in .38 short colt divided by an FN-49, the Argentine Navy one with the detachable box mags? Can I multiply that by the Mini 14's? And what does the performance center shorty-.45 do to my average?

What thread is this rating system under?

For now I will guess:

Full Auto or suppressed= 1

SBR or PDW=2

AR/AK/etc.=3

Tactical shotguns/pistols or CCW =4

autoloading pistols or DA revolvers and Military bolt guns, non-detatchable mag or low capacity autorifles=5

hunting type repeating rifles and single action revolvers=6

Single shot rifles=7

hunting shotguns and muzzle loaders=8

trap shotguns and benchrest rifles=9

Palma rifles=10

This scoring would put me at 5.0926

Palma rifles=10

I swear, I read that as 'Plasma rifles' and I was busy wondering why they'd be so politically correct when they're so ridiculously powerful when I realized two things: I misread that, and I'm playing too much Doom 3. :D

I am not exactly sure where I am placed.

On one hand, I have 1 EBR and a SKS (SEWR = Semi Evil Wood Rifle), and 2 CCW pistols in addition to my HD shotgun with sidesaddle.

On the other hand, I have a SA .357 revolver and a .22lr pistol and a old Sears .410 shotgun. Although, that wasn't really a sporting shotgun, since my Great-Grandmother used to use it to keep the drug addicts honest in LA.

See my signiture for a listing of my armament. Let's do some internet math  , using MachIV's system.
SKS=3?
.308 "sporting/Saiga" AK=4ish
Spanish Mauser=5
Shotgun=8
.22LR DA revolver=5
10/22 with hicap=4.75
BP SA revolver=6

So.....about 5.107142857, with the underlined portion repeating into oblivion. So far, so good, I guess.

It's too complicated for me. At first I thought it was about how many guns you have that you'd take to a sporting house, but that wasn't it.

I don't own any shotguns with extended choke tubes and recoil reducers if that counts. :)

I just buy what I like. Isn't that enough?

there are no "sporting purpose guns" as wanton murder is not a sport unless your first name is "Che"

all guns are made for killing and death and are only useful to criminals who want to kill and murder innocent people.

oh and also police officers with gift-from-god training which keeps them from massacring everyone in their general area. everyone knows that cops go through 8 years of ethics training before they're allowed to touch firearms.

Let's see.

1 Ithaca .410 single shot shotgun at 9
1 Marlin .357 lever gun at 7.
1 Ruger 10/22 with hi-cap at 4.5
2 center fire semi-auto pistols at 4
1 .22lr semi-auto pistol at 5
3 DA revolvers at 5 (?)
1 Milsurp bolt gun no bayonet at 6
1 Enfield with bayonets & detachable mag at 4
1 non-function Enfield with detachable mag & no bayonet at 6
1 AR-15 at 2?
1 AK variant 2?

Total of 68.5 points over 14 firearms ...

4.9

Egad. I have to do something to lower that score.

We need finer gradations here. A CCW suitable snubbie revolvers like a 642 should be lower on the scale than a larger framed DA with a 6" barrel.

So what if you have a machinegun with a suppressor on it? Do you get a 0.2 ?

Then put a 40mm launcher underneath and you can have a 0.1
