What's your "buy it now" price for ammo online?

I never buy ammo online. I only maintain a specific supply of ammo for a specific set of firearms, and beyond that just buy what I need in anticipation of a trip to the range. If I find myself short in times of low supply, whoop-dee-doo, I don't shoot for a bit. Simple as that.
OK.....

With the possibility of Hillary getting into the White House, panic buys, taxes on firearms and ammunition being raised, your methodology would only work if none of the above could happen.

As far as buying ammo online, why would never buy it online?

Not so much that I never would; more that I never have and don't have any intention to do so in the foreseeable future.

As far as all the potential concern with Hillary, here's the way I see it:

If Hillary wins, there will likely be a shortage and panic period. I'm prepared to not shoot, recreationally, for six months or so if that happens. IF she's elected and IF she makes good on her promises regarding gun control, then there are two possible outcomes.

Option A, this country has another revolution, and thus the purpose of the Second Amendment is fulfilled. I have the ammunition I expect to need to get my family through such a period (God willing - I don't mean this to sound nearly as arrogant as it probably did) given the limitations in place by both my mobility and my housing situation.

Option B, she seizes the guns and I'm not gonna be shooting recreationally anyway.

Frankly, I'm a full time student with a part time job and a full time wife and kids. Firearms are a whole lot of fun but I'm NEVER going to shoot as much as I'd like to. I own guns primarily for the safety of my family and the preservation of American freedom. I hold onto the ammo I need for those two tasks, and everything else is secondary until I finish school.

California (thanks to Gavin Newsome) is leading even HRC in eroding 2A rights at a record pace. Newsome has publicly stated that the Supreme Court has protected guns, not ammunition. I've been shooting over 40 years, but only recently have felt the need to have substantial stores of ammo. I'm NOT willing to curtail my recreational shooting because some politician wants me to stop. Mail-order allows me to shoot about twice as much for my dollar. I will continue to buy online as long as I can, as much as I can afford, since NOBODY believes it will get cheaper any time in the foreseeable future.

And with the current slap across the face CA is facing more of, I'm debating rolling my own. That said, just used Midways July 1-4 promo special for $30 off a $300 along with some crippled 10 round mags.

As for the OP's question including shipping,
9mm $.21-$.26
45 ACP $.32-$.38
I could use .38 spl and .357 but the $.40-$.52 is steep. I don't take the wheel guns out much.
