Not bad, after one vote the Dragoon is 100%

It really isn't fair to ask us to choose just one though.

As much as I like the 1851 and love my new Uberti 3rd model Dragoon, the 1860 will probably always be my favorite.

i only have an 1860 army and an 1847 walker so i don't have much experience with much else to comment on such things :( but i do like the feel of the 1860, the grip fits nice in the hand and has a good balance to it (i don't have the long barrel though) and it was my first c&b firearm so im kinda fond of it :p

The 1851 Navy, only because it was and is my first of several others. I like each of them for different reasons.

That's a tough one. The little .31s look great to me. And they're handy.
The 51 Navy is beautiful and feels great in my hand.
BUT, the Dragoon is .44 caliber, it's powerful, and I really like the way it looks.

I've had the chance to handle most Colt repros and the 1860 still feels the best. I wish modern revolvers balanced as well as the Colt 1860. I'm more accurate with the ROA. Wonder how well we could do if the Colt allowed for modern style rear sights. :D

"1861 navy"
Can we have an "Amen" to that!

"1851 Navy,you know why"
Sorry to all the others, but I don't know why... I just don't get the attraction of the earlier 1851s -- that fugly, crude looking hinged loading lever does nothing for me... Some older Corvettes are sweet to look at and handle well, but choosing an 1851 over the 1861?!?! :scrutiny:

To me, the 1861 has it all -- the streamlined loading lever of the 1860, the style of the 1862 Pocket Police that followed, and great handling.

Which reminds me... I do like the 1862 Pocket Police too!!!

Just my opinion, that's all.

HMMM ???? How can you say that ? :D I absolutely love that creeping loading lever! That's why I got 1851 conversion with loading lever

I know the revolver is not correct but Piettia really came up with a neat one with their 1861 Police! Yes it is not built on the small (correct) frame and has a 6 shot cylinder but overall the revolver is perfect in size and available firepower!
I wonder why Colt didn't make the Police Model

MY favorite real Colt is the '51 Navy!
Just right for a full sized Belt revolver!

The Navy frame really makes this one a good reliable shooter.
Yes the origonal is more carryable and that's the reason it was built. For today's uses (as a trail gun) the Piettia fills the bill!

Pietta called your fantasy gun an 1861 Police because the smaller 5 shot model is called the 1862 Pocket Police. There is no confusion that way.

My favorite Colt cap and ball revolver would have to be the Model 1860 Army. Something about its streamlined styling makes it a classic design among the open top revolvers.

Well, I'm surprised that the mighty Dragoon is lagging so far behind in the poles. In my mind, it has nearly the punch of a Walker, but is easier to handle. Now for an every-day-carry-gun it would still be too big and heavy, but for range shooting and an occasional foray into the woods, it's nearly perfect!
