What's Your Favorite C&B Revolver Pattern?

If you could only have one cap & ball revolver to shoot, which revolver pattern or base model would you consider to be your favorite that would you choose to own and shoot exclusively?

I like the 1851 in the posted picture. Also really like the 1858 Army...the Remington style w/top strap.

I've always thought the Paterson & Walkers were the most interesting looking of that era. I went with the Paterson over the Walker simply because it was the first & the folding trigger is so Tacticool in a 1836 kind of way

My Uberti 1860 Army is the best pointing revover I've handled, BP or modern. The action is slick and it's accurate, even with me shooting it. The 1851 Navy is a close second. The ROA us heavier and "clunky" but it's the most accurate and will probably last forever. Tough choice

I'm glad that you picked up on the word "pattern" and mentioned that.

I called them patterns because we're mostly referring to reproductions that are only based on the original patterns and which often aren't identical to the original models themselves.

But the word pattern does have a broad enough meaning to also include the original model which is why I used it. Its meaning covers both the original model and the reproductions without needing to make any distinction between them in the poll. i.e.- do you prefer to only shoot an original or do you favor shooting the reproduction model of it as well?

While the ROA does share some resemblence to the Remington, the Rogers & Spencer and the Ruger Blackhawk, it's still a production model having an original pattern all of its own.

I've always thought of the ROA as a Remington top mated to a Colt back strap and trigger guard, with modern coil spring lock works.

Favorite C&B Revolver...

I'll take one of the rare British Tranter Solid frame, 5 Shot .577" Revolvers. These were available in Single/Double Action, 4" Bbl, and some were delivered with a spare cylinder chambering the .577 Boxer Short: 450gr. Conical, 25gr. BP, generating about 500f/p energy.
These were favored by some of the British Officers for stopping the more excitable foreigners that resented their presence.
That, Gentlemen, is my Dream Revolver!
