Whats your favorite factory 45 acp ammo?

230 gr Hydroshocks for carry. I roll my own plinking ammo. remington brass, cci large primers, 5.8 gr of unique topped with 230 gr FMJ.

I find that CCI Blazer functions well and is accurate enough in all of my handguns (with the exception of my PPK/S which does not seem to like the aluminum cases.)

My favorite factory .45 load for practice is the XM1911 230 Grain full-load match FMJ. It is a milspec version of American Eagle with tighter specifications and sealant. I also liked the Pro Load 230 grain FMJ load, which appears to have been discontinued.

I carry the 230 grain Hydrashok in 5" pistols and Speer Gold Dot 200+P in shorter pistols such as the USP Compact. Alternately I like the 200+P Pro Load which is similar to the Gold Dot load, featuring the same projectile in a better quality case.

I have noted a greater tendency for bullet setback to occur with repeated chamberings with the Gold Dot loads than with Federal loads, probably due to the extra roll crimp used by Federal.

I use S&B and CCI Blazer for practice,
Winchester Brass jacketed SWCs for serious shooting
and Winchester Silver Tips for carry.

Practice: Sellier & Bellot 230gr. FMJ

Carry: Winchester Ranger T 230gr. or Corbon Pow'Rball 165gr.

I dont know tht its my fav. but I use PMC for Target. Its the one thats most available as its stocked at the nearest gun shop and at local range. And, its cheap, but not too cheap.....

Diesle

Lets see Practice H@G 68's Wheel Weights Made at the boondocker ammo factory.

:D

Carry Hydro Shocks

Boon

The most accurate load out of my 45 is is also utterly reliable, Federal Premium 230 grain Hydrashoks, for practice whatever I can get cheaply is fine.

Generally use Federal American Eagle 230 gr. ball for practice, or whatever is on sale.

Remington 230 gr. Golden sabers for defense.

Man I need to start reloading...ammo bill is too high these days. :)

The only factory ammo in my .45's...

Is Winchester Black Talon (yes, THAT Black Talon) that I bought a couple cases of before they pulled it off the market. That's the nightstand/carry ammo. Otherwise, they're 200gr Hensley & Gibbs #68 semiwadcutters, cast from wheelweights and 50/50 bar solder at the Gewehr98 foundry. :D

For Practice, I load a 230 gr RN, used to be cast lead, nowadays it's copper plated comercial slugs. Loaded to match GI hardball.
For Carry, it's Federal 230 gr. HydraShoks.

Don in Ohio

Range Round is Sellier & Bellot 230 Gr ball
'Serious Socializing' load is Rem 230 Gr Golden Sabre.

CCI Blazer for practice and IDPA.

Tried S&B and didn't seems as hot. Gun wouldn't function as well. Noticable difference in sound and recoil.

For reference I shoot a Para Ord. P12-45.

Thanks for the reference. They have really great prices on 380 also.

Target practice: whatever's inexpensive from PMC, Blazer, or Cabela's.

Social Work: 230 grains of Hydra-Shok Therapy, subcutaneous, PRN.

(OK, that's flippant, but it's what I carry.)

Getting ready to give the new all-copper round from Taurus a try.

at times I have used mag-safe,golden saber, and hydra shok ammo for carry but right now I don't have a favorite because I'm still looking for a good short bbl. 45 load. As for practice ammo I reload usualy 200 gr rn over what ever usable pistol powder is on sale.

UMC, white box and blazer for plinking.

Another vote for Black Talon for serious bidniz. Bought a pile off a local gun shop that bought a pile before they pulled the good stuff. They still have some, I think...

I really like the 230 gr Magtech in FMJ. It goes for around 10/box around here.
